Merry Christmas from New Zealand

a NZ Christmas tree "Pohutukawa" near Piha Beach 20 mins from  my house

In 2009 I pondered how it is weird to experience warm weather at Christmas.  After 4 years of living in NZ, it is still weird.  Christmas is a Christian holiday combined with the pagan winter festival plus Santa and Reindeer...  Santa wears a wool suit.  He lives at the North Pole.  His sleigh is made for snow.  Lights decorate houses in winter where its dark at 5pm.

In 2010 I shared a few negative experiences I've had this time of year.

For 2011?  Well, the only 'bad' is I haven't managed to send anything to family except flowers to arrive at my mother's in Glenview, Illinois USA.  We managed to get our NZ presents (aka known as "pressies") for all family members here so we'll wrap all those today - and head to mum's for lunch tomorrow Christmas day.

Growing up in Wilmette in a Catholic family, we used to go to church every Sunday.  On Christmas sometimes we'd attend midnight mass Saturday night.  Last time I went to midnight mass was before I was married probably 1998 or 1999, I was living in an apartment and was supposed to meet a sister and my mother there.  Neither showed up.  They were tired.  My NZ family aren't church goers, yet they are very spiritual and reverent people in their lives, in loving and caring towards each other and other people they know.  Their kindness and love help me live my life here away from my Illinois roots.

Do you need to go to church to be spiritual?  No.

This year I am happy to be able to share a Christmas holiday with NZ loved ones.  Some of us will be bringing our pets to mum's (dogs!).  There are 3 puppies and 2 adult dogs so 5 wee doggies will be added to the fun at mum's with around 20 adults and one 3 year old.

Tomorrow should shape up to be a wonderful day of food, family, puppies, pressies and the warm summer NZ sunshine...

I hope you all get to share some food, prayer, joy and happiness wherever you are this year - Merry Christmas everyone!

The Last Civil Right

The Last Civil Right asks is the condition of black Americans under Barack O: Good, Bad or Worse?

" for someone just because they are black is not a means of payback or revenge. If you even think that for a moment, you are sadly mistaken. You are only hurting yourself by making that decision. That only proves just how ignorant, shallow and unforgiving you truly are. Why is it that 98% of blacks vote in favor of shattering their own circumstances? That’s right, every single time you vote the Democrat base you tighten the noose around your neck. Meanwhile, the rest of the community suffers and remains in shambles. You keep the shackles on by voting for those values. When will we learn that social programs and handouts are not working in our favor so that we can move forward towards success? Dumbing us right on down, and we are repeatedly keeping ourselves enslaved by doing so. That is the very message we are sending out to others who are looking in our direction. That is the future we have chosen for our children."

Good questions... It is looking much worse to me...

D's "blame the rich" to get USA "poor" to vote for them and stay on plantation

Who are the "poor" in America and how "bad" off are they really?  Not bad off at all actually.  The whole "blame the rich" meme being fostered by communist-dems also known as "class warfare" is to blame those "evil, facist, racist" Republicans (see video!) and RICH people who keep the poor 'down'.  Down on the plantation?  That is where communist-dems WANT the populace.  They give people free stuff to get them to keep voting them into power.  I'm not saying anything new.  You know this already - is is obvious, isn't it?

Rush Limbaugh mentions this week "Percentage of poor US how does which have various amenities: Refrigerator, 99%. Television, 97%. Stove and oven, 97%. Microwave, 82%." The list goes on. That's what it looks like. It's a chart. So Koko will put it up and you'll have a chance to take a look at it, 'cause I had the call and guy made a great point. More and more people are told -- more and more middle-class people are told -- they are living in poverty, and furthermore they're told that the rich are the reason; the rich are responsible. That's how Obama is running a scorched earth. That's how he's gonna divide and rip this country apart as part of his reelection campaign."

Look at some statistics from Heritage in their article Air Conditioning, Cable TV, and an Xbox: What is Poverty in the United States Today?

"Housing and Poverty

Of course, the typical poor family could have a host of modern conveniences and still live in dilapidated, overcrowded housing. However, data from other government surveys show that this is not the case.[19] Poor Americans are well housed and rarely overcrowded.[20] In fact, the houses and apartments of America’s poor are quite spacious by international standards. The typical poor American has considerably more living space than does the average European.[21]

Forty-three percent of all poor households own their own homes. The average home owned by persons classified as poor by the Census Bureau is a three-bedroom house with one-and-a-half baths, a garage, and a porch or patio.[22]

Nearly all of the houses and apartments of the poor are in good condition. According to the government’s data, only one in 10 has moderate physical problems. Only 2 percent of poor domiciles have “severe” physical problems, the most common of which is sharing a bathroom with another household living in the building.[23]

Food Shortages, Nutrition, and Poverty

It is possible that most poor households could be well housed and have many modern conveniences but still face chronic food shortages and undernutrition. Poor families might have microwaves but a limited and sporadic supply of food to put in the microwave. Government surveys show that this is not the case for the overwhelming majority of poor families.

On average, the poor are well nourished. The average consumption of protein, vitamins, and minerals is virtually the same for poor and middle-class children. In most cases, it is well above recommended norms. Poor children actually consume more meat than higher-income children consume, and their protein intake averages 100 percent above recommended levels. In fact, most poor children are super-nourished and grow up to be, on average, one inch taller and 10 pounds heavier than the GIs who stormed the beaches of Normandy in World War II.[24]

However, even though the poor, in general, have an ample food supply, some do suffer from temporary food shortages. For example, a poor household with an adequate long-term food supply might need temporarily to cut back meals, eat cheap food, or go without if cash and food stamps run out at the end of the month.

Still, government data show that most poor households do not suffer even from temporary food shortages. As Chart 7 shows, 92.5 percent of poor households assert that they always had “enough food to eat” during the previous four months, although 26 percent of these did not always have the foods that they would have preferred. Some 6 percent of poor households state that they “sometimes” did not have enough food, and 1.5 percent say they “often” did not have enough food.[25]

The bottom line is that, although a small portion of poor households report temporary food shortages, the overwhelming majority of poor households report that they consistently have enough food to eat."

Frontline evidence from a Maine Walmart on welfare reform needed

Remember everything free on your EBT?  Did you think that video was parody or closer to reality?  Hmm...  One girl who worked a couple of summers at Walmart has written a good article on how welfare reform is really needed in Maine, USA. Her article applies to everywhere welfare is abused!  A snippet:

"I understand that sometimes, people are destitute. They need help, and they accept help from the state in order to feed their families. This is fine. It happens. I’m not against temporary aid helping those who truly need it. What I saw at Wal-Mart, however, was not temporary aid. I witnessed generations of families all relying on the state to buy food and other items. I literally witnessed small children asking their mothers if they could borrow their EBT cards. I once had a man show me his welfare card for an ID to buy alcohol. The man was from Massachusetts. Governor Michael Dukakis’ signature was on his welfare card. Dukakis’ last gubernatorial term ended in January of 1991. I was born in June of 1991. The man had been on welfare my entire life. That’s not how welfare was intended, but sadly, it is what it has become."

still unexplained after 2 years of social medicine

in this diagram, my internal abdominal oblique and tendionouse inscriptions both seem to hurt?
I have had abdominal pain on and off for 2 years.  After various tests by socialized medicine, I have not been given a definitive idea of what the problem might be.

Permanent lower abdominal cramps

Two years ago the pain started like monthly female period cramps (these are great fun, just ask your girlfriend, wife or mother!) which lasted over a month.  I started taking lots of ibuprofen.  Cramps seem to worsen.

Went for ultrasound to check female parts and appointment with intestinal specialist.  All OK on the ultrasound. Cramps really bad one morning around 3am so went to emergency clinic.  African doctor said no more ibuprofen, I was making issues worse.  Switched to panadol (tylenol) which is paracetamol.  Had to take 4-5 days a week sometimes 8-9 pills a day.  My local doctor recommends I see a dietician and agrees with intestinal specialist I should get a colonoscopy. Local blood tests confirm very low iron and low iron absorption.  I'm given couple months worth of doses of codeine for bad pain. I take it periodically when needed.

About 8-9 months ago, I started seeing a dietician.  I give up coffee, caffeine, soda / fizzy drink and incorporate more fiber and iron into my diet.  This seems to help a bit.  Yet, periodic cramping pain continues.

It took about 1 year to get a colonscopy. I was put on the waiting list Oct-2010 and had the procedure end of Sep-2011.  Minor divurticulitus found, nothing major and no cancer or anything.  Surgeon gives me prescription for couple months of fiber drink.

New, severe pain

Sunday morning 27-Nov-11 I awoke about 3:00am with a new, sharper abdominal pain near the appendix area and shooting upwards.  Felt like a knife inside me.  I took some codeine and panadol.  I went to work Monday but wasn't too happy. Tuesday I stay home and try to self medicate some more.  Pain is intensifying.

30-Nov-11 in hospital

Wed 30-Nov-11 I go to my doctor first thing.  He worries about my appendix.  He sends me to hospital.  My husband leaves work to drive me there.  I'm given some intra-venous pain meds (morphine?) and try to explain my symptoms to a couple of different doctors.

Later in afternoon at hospital, they Xray my abdomen but apparently not much found.  I send husband home.  It hurts to stand up or walk, but mostly ok if I just lay still. I stay overnight.  No dinner or breakfast but am given more pain medications.  Next morning head of surgical and team of doctors assess me.  He recommends CT scan of my abdomen.  They don't think appendix - my symptoms are different.

CT scan

Next day I get a CT scan at 1pm.  I'm allowed to eat so have some dinner.  Yum: hospital food. One of the surgeons who had assessed me yesterday (twice), came by with CT results around 6pm.  He says he doesn't see any divirticulitis, anything wrong with intestines or any other organs.  CT is a "snapshot" but it is inconclusive.  He says I can go home if I'm feeling OK. He thinks it might just be an issue with an internal abdominal muscle.  He advises it will either get better on its own by just relaxing for a week - but if pain worsens, I have to go back to hospital.  I get a prescription about 8pm for about a week's worth "tramadol".

On Tramadol

"Tramadol - is a synthetic opioid analgesic indicated for moderate-moderately severe pain. Tramadol, like all opioids, does produce "morphine-like" effects including analgesia, euphoria, anxiolysis (reduced anxiety), dizziness, somnolence, nausea/vomiting, constipation, and sweating. However, tramadol causes significantly less respiratory depression than morphine. In contrast to morphine, tramadol has not been shown to cause histamine release. At therapeutic doses, tramadol has no clinically significant effect on heart rate."

Lingering pain

So after I got home from hospital, I stayed home that  Friday and basically was in bed for 4 days. I took Tramadol here and there and have been taking a dose of Tramadol nightly. I have one more dose left.  Tues night, I did not take any and Wed I woke up with lingering pain - so took another day off work and laid in bed all day.  So what is the end to this story?  I still don't know.  Today is Thu 15-Dec-11.

No diagnosis yet

Two years later... and I still have periodic abdominal pain.  It is slightly better with changes to diet - and with a week's worth of rest and tramadol.  However, if I don't eat for a day or two?  I still have some pain.  I've been ultra-sounded, x-ray-ed and CT-ed.  I feel slightly better?  Sorta...  I can walk around and I'm at work today - will see how long I can sit without pain.  I just took some more panadol.

Hopefully my liver won't shrivel up from too much panadol.

My opinion of socialized medicine?  Well, it seems OK so far but I still have some pain and no definitive diagnosis yet.  This is frustrating.  I wonder if Chicago doctors would have figured this out by now...   I'll never know I guess... *sigh*, so if I keel over and die, it was nice blogging with you.  Wish me luck...

internal organs - mine are supposedly all OK

the miracle at 8 weeks

Fascinating video showing fetal development. A baby is fully formed by 8 weeks so if USA law says you can only abort after 8 weeks, aren't they ensuring it is a human being first before they kill it? Might the better position be:

Pro Life
Pro Adoption
Pro Human

13 families in one house a "better arrangement" and more just?

A WONDERFUL life explained under communism - a clip from Doctor Zhivago (movie I referenced in my last post)...  Haven't seen the film but have heard people thought it was good?  Go watch it again.  It demonstrates the decay of people into 'revolution' and into the 'glory' of communism and its horrors of the state and people who follow the state's orders like zombies... It is about the the loss of FREEDOM in one man's life.  He works hard as a doctor but the family home is taken away because 13 families can fit in there... He has to work for the state, he has to participate in warfare, he cannot be free... Is that how you want to live America?
You tube won't allow me to embed this video, so go watch the clip to see what I mean:

Sunny's Top Five Reasons To Be a Commie Pinko

Excellent list (I love lists) featured at PJ Media from miss Sunny: her top 5 reasons to be a commie pinko!

1) Free stuff! "Need an apartment? It’s free! Never mind you have to share it with 20 smelly strangers — because … wow! You don’t have to pay for it!"

2) Really Cool Propaganda Art "Why are Communists so good at this? Probably because reason doesn’t work in their case; they HAVE to appeal to your emotions; and boy, do they ever!"

3) Easy Disposal of Your Enemies "Is a neighbor bothering you with his overly perfect lawn? Did a coworker best you in a meeting the other day? ... Well under Communism, you don’t have to take that s*it. Just report to the authorities that your enemy was complaining about the government, and voila! Problem solved."

4) Baryshnikov

... and finally:
5) Being a Rebel WITH a Cause Is Good for Your Pathetic Self Esteem "If you lived in a Communist dictatorship, you could become a capitalist. In America, you have to become a Communist to experience the same joy of counter-culture rebellion where you can take all your victim issues out on everybody else but appear as if you just “care about people.” It’s incredibly satisfying. Like taking a big dump."

great job, Sunny ... keep it up!

Climategate 2.0: can another huge storm of truth be ignored by warmists?

a storm of truth in the distance?
Yep, 2 years ago there was Climategate 1.0 - now there are more emails released - with even more damning evidence of the scam (that the very tiny bit of C02 man emits has ANY effect on "global" warming of the planet). Truth seekers are calling it Climategate 2.0

Here are a few examples of the liar's emails - which only prove their AGW political-activism-ideology.  (< look! an "ology"!).... Hey, we are the "scientists" with grant money - you must believe us, our "science" is SETTLED - because we (the IPCC and alarmists!) want our money to continue - just so we can spew our ideology! ... Flipping amazing:

<5315> Jenkins/MetO:

would you agree that there is no convincing evidence for kilimanjaro glacier melt being due to recent warming (let alone man-made warming)?

<2423> Lanzante/NOAA:

While perhaps one could designate some subset of models as being poorer in a lot of areas, there probably never will be a single universally superior model or set of models. We should keep in mind that the climate system is complex, so that it is difficult, if not impossible to define a metric that captures the breath of physical processes relevant to even a narrow area of focus.

<4443> Jones:

Basic problem is that all models are wrong - not got enough middle and low level clouds.

Much more here, here or here to get you started...

Mr. Nolte comments on his compilation "The list is in no particular order. Like the Occupiers themselves, it’s unruly, disorganized, messy and not focused solely on the nation’s media centers. The movement is spreading across America and bringing with it their outrageous and appalling behavior.

On top of everything else, imagine the drain all this lawlessness has on law enforcement resources. My list doesn’t even include the collateral damage. Thanks to Occupy Wall Street’s drain on police personnel, shootings increased 154% in New York alone. What is it in Chicago, Seattle, Boston, Oakland, and Cleveland?"

O-regime madness "by the numbers"

here is another list, visually, of the horrors of the Oregime...

91 reasons to love TehWon

Passing along a list from a comment on PJ Media -  91 reasons to love Oblabla - complied by "Rabbi Dov Fischer".

Can anyone think of extra reasons, enjoy:

1. Obamacare — Attempting to federalize local state rights, extending federal control over massive components of the national bourse, extending federal control over individuals’ lives in violation of the Constitution’s Commerce Clause. Cynically lining up supporters in white doctors’ robes, while refusing to consult with much more prominent and predominant medical groups who oppose. Lying about the program’s cost and tax burden by subterfuging it with exorbitant taxes that begin several years into its anticipated roll-out. Robbing $500 billion from Medicare that will destroy access for seniors, while lying about the Ryan proposal that would not affect people over 55.
2. The catastrophic $850 billion stimulus. $700,000 to develop a robot that tells jokes. $3.4 million for an underground tunnel for turtles to cross the road in Florida. $1 million to help smokers kick the habit by giving them Blackberry “smartphones.” $2.6 million for Chinese prostitutes in China to drink responsibly. Lying to Americans by claiming the money was going to “shovel-ready jobs” — and then joking about the falsehood. Lying by hiding the amounts transferred to favored liberal projects unrelated to job growth or economic stimulation.
3. Chronically high, persistent unemployment — His own staff said that he would bring it under 8% ; yet it remains over 9% thirty months into his one term, with real unemployment actually exceeding 15% as huge numbers of unemployed Americans withdraw from searching hopelessly for jobs. Lying about a Summer of Recovery (2010).
4. Gas prices — Now exceeding $4.50 a gallon in California, while he bars exploration in ANWR, restricts licenses to explore along the Atlantic coast or in the Gulf, but exports American dollars to help Brazil explore for oil in the Gulf even as Obama promises that America then will buy that oil from Brazil. (See also #82.)
5. Failure to pass a budget. The abject failure by the Chief Executive to get any kind of budget adopted for 2010.
6. Multi-trillion debt free-fall. Turning the disastrous Bush deficits into a multi-trillion-dollar economic free-fall, now leaving the nation with a debt exceeding $14.3 trillion . . . and pressing for authorization to increase the free-fall. His own latest mad deficit proposal was demolished in a House vote 97-318, as his own Democrats abandoned him in droves.
7. The seizure of GM and Chrysler. The illegal transfer of bondholder wealth to unions, imposing his views on parts of the American auto industry, artificially trying to jump-start his favored companies with “Cash for Clunkers,” only to find that American tax dollars were used instead by people buying preferred Japanese cars to acquire them cheaper while being forced to destroy throughly sound used cars.
8. Dodd-Frank.
9. Unremitting hostility to Israel. Destroying the Mideast process by imposing unilateral burdens on Israel, forcing Israel to cease construction of Jewish homes, even in Jerusalem, thus compelling Abbas to harden several positions, all while publicly snubbing Prime Minister Netanyahu in the basement of the White House (the first visit) and trying to snub him on the second visit with a horrible policy speech as Netanyahu was flying en route to America.
10. Failure to support Iran’s Green Revolution. A complete silence and abandonment of leadership when Iranians risked their lives for freedom, while backing the Moslem Brotherhood uprising in Egypt.
11. Failure to support the Syrian people’s revolution against Assad. Utter failure to lead until it was impossible to overlook the massacres by a dictator who actively finances and supports Iran and Hezbollah, America’s sworn enemies in Iraq and South Lebanon.
12. The Libyan Fiasco. Entering Libya while failing to consult Congress. No sense of whether we are supporting people just as bad as Qaddafi. Remaining in the war more than 90 days without obtaining Congressional approval. Lying about violating the War Powers Act by claiming there are no “hostilities” in Libya.
13. The Gulf oil disaster. Bumbling in handling the Gulf oil disaster — refusing aid from countries with oil-cleaning vessels, failing to accept offers of boom to corral the spill, bringing in underwater filmmaker James Cameron as an expert.
14. Closing down oil exploration. The unnecessary moritorium on permitting oil exploration in the aftermath of the Gulf oil disaster, contributing to a massive explosion of oil prices, even leading a federal court to overturn him.
15. EPA interference. The shutdown of Shell’s Arctic oil exploration by EPA
16. Cap-and-Trade Fiasco. The push in Congress for a disastrous “cap-and-trade” plan that would stymie the coal, electric, and natural gas industries, while enormously raising Americans’ home fuel prices, leading even his own party’s U.S. Senator from West Virginia to film a TV promise to voters that he will shoot the proposal full of holes.
17. Use of federal agencies to bypass Congressional oversight. The attempt, after Congress refused to adopt his cap-and-trade nonsense, to bypass Congressional opposition and impose cap-and-trade undemocratically via the EPA.
18. Use of FCC initially to restrict free speech. The push for unconstitutional restrictions on free speech on his political enemies on Talk Radio while assuring protections for unions to spend money on campaigns via The Disclose Act.
19. The Disclose Act and cherry-picking. The attempt to unconstitutionally impose The Disclose Act on his political opponents but not unions via Executive Order.
20. Czars to bypass Congressional oversight. The use of unaccountable “czars” who effectively run huge segments of the American Government without being accountable to Congress and who are protected from Congressional subpoena power.
21. Boorish shaming of Supreme Court justices. The embarrassing and arrogant verbal assault on the Supreme Court while Court Justices courteously attended the first State of the Union address, sitting in front of him, leading most to boycott the subsequent State of Union addresses.
22. Boorish attempt to shame Paul Ryan. The similarly embarrassing and arrogant verbal assault on Rep. Paul Ryan when addressing the federal budget, with Ryan having been invited personally by Obama to attend the speech and sit in front of him.
23. Boorish attempt to shame John McCain. The insulting, embarrassing, and arrogant gloating at John McCain during the televised sham negotiation over Obamacare, when he responded to McCain not substantively but by saying that Obama had won and McCain had lost the election — so there!
24. Refusal to prosecute Black Panthers for Voter Intimidation. Obama’s and Attorney-General Eric Holder’s politicization of the Department of Justice, including refusing to prosecute the Black Panther voter-intimidation case in Philadelphia.
25. Marriage Act. Obama’s and Holder’s refusal to defend the Federal Defense of Marriage Act, an act of Congress.
26. Lies, Lies, Lies. The regular use of straw-man demonizations to try winning support for his unpopular legislation, like accusing doctors of performing unnecessary surgery so that they can enrich themselves by imposing misery on their patients.
27. Throwing his grandmother under the bus. Using his grandmother as a foil to win points, calling her a racist like “typical white people.”
28. Bowing to the Saudi King and the Japanese emperor. Literally.
29. Treating our British alliance contemptuously. Shamefully returning to Great Britain the bust of Winston Churchill that they had given us and that had reposed in the White House, while insulting the Queen and the Prime Minister with inane gifts like DVDs. The subsequent fiasco while toasting the Queen, continuing to talk during the playing of the British National Anthem.
30. Violating and abrogating long-standing promises to our allies. Removing the missile shield from Poland and the Czech Republic to placate Putin.
31. Standing with the aspiring Honduran dictator. Backing the would-be dictator of Honduras when that nation’s duly convoked Supreme Court had removed him from office in careful compliance with law.
32. FTAs with allies. Failure to push for quick ratification of free trade agreements with Columbia, Panama and South Korea.
33. Amateurish handling of Afghanistan military effort. The painfully over-extended indecision, for months, whether to authorize a military surge into Afghanistan, then exacerbating the indecision by announcing to our enemies a date-certain withdrawal timeline — a time coordinated with his reelection bid.
34. Incoherence on how to handle the anti-Mubarak uprising in Egypt. Dispatching Frank Wizner as his emissary, then rejecting Wizner’s advice.
35. Radicalizing the NLRB outside Congressional purview. Appointing [Harold] Craig Becker, a radical unionist, to the NLRB through a recess appointment that otherwise never would have passed Congress.
36. Radicalizing FCC outside Congressional purview. Appointing FCC commissioners who are pursuing “net neutrality” without Congressional authorization.
37. Ecology gone wild in California. Wiping out much of the agricultural economy of California’s Central Valley by restricting full water deliveries to protect a small Delta Smelt fish
38. Gitmo debacles. Promising to close the Guantanamo Bay facility that interns terrorists, trying to close it, failing to close it, refusing to concede his error or assure that “Gitmo” will remain open.
39. Civil trials for terrorists debacles. Promising to move terrorist trials to civilian courts, then trying to prosecute Khalid Sheik Mohammed in Downtown New York, only to be opposed even by the two ultra-liberal Democrat U.S. Senators of New York, then pressing to try another terrorist, Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani, in civilian court, resulting in the terrorist being acquitted on 284 of 285 counts.
40. Napolitano out of touch. The shameful failure of Obama’s Homeland Security chief, Janet Napolitano, to appreciate the Obama Administration’s security failures in the face of the near-catastrophe of the “underwear bomber” in the skies over Detroit, as she insisted “the system worked.”
41. Student loans. Government takeover of the student loan program
42. Border security. Cancellation of the “virtual border fence” project with no replacement, while deploying National Guard troops to do paper work at desk jobs and provide office assistance rather than stand armed along the border.
43. The “Beer Summit.” In the aftermath of wrongly castigating and erroneously pre-judging fault regarding the Cambridge Police Department, tying up the country with a foolish spectacle on the White House lawn.
44. Immigration and Arizona. The Department of Justice’s attack on Arizona for that state’s exercise of its sovereign legislative authority on the issue of citizen identification rules. Failure of his own federal government to execute the law on immigration.
45. The attack on Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker. Attacking the Wisconsin governor and his state legislature for exercising their sovereign legislative authority on public employment issues, while Obama failed to acknowledge that the new Wisconsin rules are comparable to those that always have applied to federal employees.
46. Lying to McCain on their deal over campaign fundraising. Violating his pledge to John McCain to abide by McCain-Feingold limits for funding his Presidential campaign.
47. Downplaying American exceptionalism. Apology tours.
48. Implying that the Minnesota bridge collapse was the result of lack of infrastructure funding
49. Chicago Olympics fiasco. Shamefully inserting himself into a botched campaign to bring Olympic Games to Chicago, thereby exposing the Presidency of the United States to ridicule and formal rejection, and demonstrating early-on his overconfident sense of himself and his unpreparedness for the seriousness of his office.
50. Hypocritical attack on D.C. public school voucher effort. The attack on a voucher program for Washington, D.C. schools, even as his own children are protected from the educational failures that curse the Washington populace.
51. Associating with the murky. Associations with convicted unrepentant domestic terrorists and eccentric haters of America: the Reverend Wright, William Ayres, Van Jones.
52. Anita Dunn. Her war against Fox News and her boastfulness that the Obama White House has the “courage to speak truth to Power” — when it is the White House, not a cable TV station, that is “Power”; and her speech to schoolchildren, as a White House representative, sharing with the young and impressionable her idolization and admiration of mass-murderer Mao Tse-Tung.
53. ACORN.
54. SEIU. Having Andrew Stern, President of SEIU, as the man who has visited the White House more than any other person during the Obama term.
55. Teleprompters / White House for Dummies. A reliance on teleprompters to protect him from stumbling and bumbling speeches when, without scripting, he has spoken of his visits to America’s “57 states,” has denigrated the handicapped, could not pronounce “corpsman,” moronically said that Austrians speak “Austrian,” referred to deceased war heroes adding that many were in the audience he was addressing, and has made more gaffes than Dan Quayle.
56. Arrogance and Haughtiness. An extreme level of personal nose-in-the-air arrogance and lack of graciousness, from physical comportment to the way he addresses others. The Roman columns. The arrogant temerity to tell Americans, God-like, that history will record his coronation as the moment that the rivers stopped rising and the planet healed.
57. Chicago Corruption. The house he corruptly acquired through Tony Rezko.
58. The artificial shifting dialects. Affecting an artificial accent when speaking to unions, and to others with whom he allies in his “class wars,” that belies his having grown up in Hawaii, reared by a Caucasian grandmother, his having spent years being schooled in Indonesia, and later attending school at Occidental College in California, Columbia University, and Harvard Law School.
59. Lack of transparency. Refusing to share his academic records or the sources through which he paid for private college and law school, despite his pre-election calls for transparency.
60. Failure to lead on immigration. Not confronting the immigration issue when he dominantly controlled both the House and a filibuster-proof Senate, then mocking the GOP on immigration, saying they would not be happy with “alligators and moats” — when all they want is secure borders.
61. Fiscal irresponsibility on foreign relations with Egypt. Forgiving billions of dollars in Egyptian and related Mideast debt when we are past the 14.3 trillion debt line.
62. Wasting billions on corrupt “Palestine” agencies. Pumping billions more into the discredited United Nations Relief & Works Agency (UNRWA) and the Palestinian Authority that merged with the terrorist Hamas.
63. Radical judicial appointments. Nominating a radical leftist, Professor Goodwin Liu, for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit despite Liu’s contempt for constitutional imperatives towards limited government.
64. Acceding to political bribery by cherry-picking waivers to Obamacare for favored donors. Forcing Obamacare down the throats of small businesses across America that cannot afford it . . . then approving politically correct and electoral pay-off waivers for his friends, donors, and rich boutique businesses. Granting 20% of all the country’s Obamacare waivers in Pelosi’s San Francisco district. Buying off votes from Ben Nelson of Nebraska (the Cornhusker Deal), Mary Landrieu (the Louisiana Purchase) to pass Obamacare.
65. Using the White House to crush political opposition. Trying to force donors to his political opponents to reveal their contributions. Using the White House official website asking supporters to report to the Government instances of people criticizing Government policies.
66. Attempting to crush media opposition. Punishing a Boston newspaper whose editorial attacked him, having his White House conduct a war against Fox News, claiming they are an entertainment, not a news organization, and then boycotting Fox until that strategy backfired.
67. Encouraging cultural decline. Inviting “Common,” a “poet” with disgusting lyrics of hate, to entertain at the White House
68. The Louis XVI Factor. Vacations and high-profile golf during the Gulf oil crisis, prompting even Democrat strategist and Presidential advisor James Carville to erupt in fury. More high-profile golf at Cape Cod while the country was losing its AAA credit rating for the first time.
69. The Marie Antoinette Factor. Michelle high-profile huge trips abroad, a la Eva Peron, with family friends and their children partying on the public payroll, at 5-star hotels in places like Spain.
70. Al Sharpton. Launching his national presidential reelection campaign with a speech to Al Sharpton’s base.
71. Secrecy in Legislation. Failing to honor his pledge to conduct transparent governance, crafting Obamacare with Democrats behind closed doors barred to Republicans, leaving Obamacare as a massive document so convoluted that Nancy Pelosi had to tell the media: “But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.”
72. A philosophy of redistributing other people’s money. Trying to persuade “Joe the Plumber” that it is a beneficial national economic goal to “redistribute the wealth.”
73. Cynically blaming Republicans and Talk Radio for the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. Blaming their rhetoric, while failing to address Democrat use of vile and violent language to describe Republicans and the Tea Party.
74. Lying about a family connection to the Holocaust. Lying and falsely telling Americans that his grandfather was among those who liberated Auschwitz when, in fact, no American troops liberated Auschwitz.
75. Failing to grasp the Israel narrative. Describing Israel’s right to exist as premised on the Holocaust, thus missing the entire point of a Jewish country built on the land where Jews have lived since Biblical times.
76. Lying about a family connection to the Civil Rights movement. Telling Americans that his birth happened because his parents became amorous as a result of the 1965 Selma Civil Rights March — even though he was born in 1961.
77. Collapse of the housing market. American housing prices lowest since 2002.
78. Manipulating legislation by forcing votes on massive documents. Racing massive thousand-page legislation packages through Congress without allowing Congress or the American People time to read, comprehend, and absorb the bill — and thus breaking a major campaign promise.
79. The Credit Rating downgrade. Presiding over the first credit-rating downgrade in American history.
80. Timing military campaigns to coincide with election campaigns. Manipulating and sacrificing the lives of American soldiers, basing a withdrawal from Afghanistan not on strategic national security considerations but timed instead to coincide with the start of the 2012 Democrat Presidential Convention.
81. NLRB. Stacking the National Labor Relations Board with left-focused political hacks who are attempting to prevent America’s leading exporter, Boeing, from building a $1 billion manufacturing plant in South Carolina because that state permits employment of non-union labor.
82. Cynically manipulating the national Strategic Oil Reserve. Releasing 30 million barrels of oil from the United States Strategic Petroleum Reserve in order to obtain the temporary political goal of lowering gasoline prices that have skyrocketed in the face of his severe restrictions on permitting exploration in the Gulf of Mexico, along the Atlantic coast, and in Alaska in his obsessive pursuit of “green jobs.”
83. “Operation Fast and Furious” debacle. Allowing Mexican drug lords to access illegal firearms, then losing track of the firearms while the drug cartels used the illegal firearms for crime including murdering Americans.
84. Lying, lying, and more lying to voters. Trying to create class warfare by telling people that Republicans’ refusal to raise taxes will cause youngsters to be unable to finance their college educations, while causing seniors to lose health care and social security payments. Failing to admit honestly that Congress extended the Bush tax cuts and refused to increase taxes even when Democrats had a filibuster-proof Senate and veto-proof control of both Congressional chambers.
85. Investigating CIA patriots. The Holder investigation into CIA operatives’ interrogations of suspected Al Qaeda terrorists and their use of methods that had been approved in advance by the Justice Department.
Here are some my additions:
86. the Solymdra scandal.
87. Noncompliance by Eric Holder and the White House for information relating to various investigations.
88. Requesting help from an anti-American terrorist group, Pakistan’s ISI to negotiate with the Al-Qaeda supporting Haqqani network.
89. Bankrolling failed green manufacturing schemes in Finland and Spain, to the tune of hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars.
90. having an Islamist Turkish government, that openly engaged in a terrorist attack on Israel, join an anti-terrorism task force.
91. Undermining America sovereignty by joining the International Criminal Court and UN Human Rights Committee. The latter exist mainly as a cover for dictators and to condemn Israel.
Please everyone add to this list and circulate it.

So... what else ya got?

Jackson: when liberals ruled America

say, what does a clean dog do the first chance it gets...? image from profimedia
Another excellent commentary from Kevin Jackson: When Liberals Ruled America - tidbit:

"The Occupy movement was to be Liberal’s manifest destiny. Occupy was supposed to catch on and become the next battle cry for a Progressive Liberal Utopian (PLUtopian) revolution, yet it’s far from it.

The Occupy movement reminds me of why it’s totally unnecessary to bathe a dog. The first opportunity the dog gets, it’s just going to go outside to roll around in the dirt again.

Here’s a quick recap of the Occupy:

First there were thefts of Occupants by Occupants. Then there were sexual assaults. Many Occupants used these gatherings to buy and sell drugs.—nothing like drug-crazed zombies roaming the streets to define your movement.

After all the eating and partying, eventually nature called, and some Occupants “paid their water bills”[1] in the park skipping the porta-potties. If that wasn’t enough, one Occupant pinched a loaf on the flag and another defecated a police cruiser. Occupants’ sexual activities created a run on free clinics for STD testing, and much of what the Occupants have done has created a public health issue, including an outbreak of tuberculosis in Atlanta.

Adding to this impressive resume of accomplishments, the Occupants assaulted cops, which in some cases are the very same cops asked by the Occupants to roust the homeless who wished to join the “cause.” Apparently the Occupy became a “members only” club, and the homeless were not on the list. We have a dress code, you deadbeats!

It’s easy to see why Democrats from the top down supported this movement. Obama praised the Occupants’ courage for marching against the excesses of Wall Street, and Pelosi all but organized a prayer vigil. But hold on Hank Johnson, as Guam may have finally tipped over—Democrats may be regaining their sanity in all this.

Democrats will allow Occupants to steal, molest, pillage, harass cops, disrupt business, and reject the homeless, but they draw the line at their voters killing each other.[2] So with the recent public safety issues, it is said that the Democrats are distancing themselves from the Occupants."

Read the whole thing here

The only thing I disagree with Kevin on is I think some Demcrats (now many of them open Communists) will happily allow voters to kill each other - whistleblowers (and others) get killed on behalf of a dem-com requests - more often than people think!  Remember the dodgy list of 100s of mysterious deaths under Clinton?  And yes indeed, a mysterious death list under the Oregime has commenced as well... (so you might want to rethink that one Kevin)...

the abomination of American gridiron football

John Martin's The Destruction of Sodom and Gemmorah

So have you heard about Penn State's football coach being recently fired and students 'rioting' in support of their 'beloved' coach?  Did you know WHY he was fired?  Did you know Penn State was pimping out young boys for sex to their big dollar donors?  Did you know the 'beloved' coach Joe Paterno knew full well what was going on and did not stop it?  Did you know a prosecutor went missing in the Sandusky case(s)?

Ann Barnhardt explains "It is now all over the internet that Sandusky was running a high-dollar pedophile ring, and that "Second Mile" was merely a front and means of recruiting and enslaving young boys who were then pimped to wealthy Penn State donors for sex.
Penn State should be shut down. Not just the football program - the entire university. Shut it down immediately. Any student of Penn State with any sense should be making arrangements to transfer to another university, because graduating from Penn State would necessitate that said person list Penn State on their resume, which will now be a major, major strike against that person. Why? Because they knowingly entered and subsidized a cult that worshiped an old man who "coached" a football team. And, as it turns out, that old man (Joe Paterno) facilitated and enabled a massive pedophile ring. Further, said students, even after learning of this and seeing that "old man" fired, RIOTED last night IN SUPPORT OF THE CULT LEADER / PEDOPHILE RING ENABLER. "

Wow, just wow.  But heck, it is all OK because NOTHING ELSE MATTERS EXCEPT WINNING A GODDAMN FOOTBALL GAME, right?  A GAME!!   Is THAT what it comes down to America?  Winning a pointless GAME?  America, are you SO in to your bread and circus forest you are completely unable to see the trees around you?

My God... Amazing.

Its all about the money, huh.  No matter if young boys are raped.  No matter if player has murdered people - or served time in jail for brutally murdering dogs(Oblabla even "praised" the Eagles who re-hired the dog murderer!!)....   Gridiron American Football = Win win win at all costs - NO MATTER WHAT THEY ARE... huh?

Utter rubbish... and completely disgusting...  American mindless zombies vote in "democrats", allow immorality to seep in across the country and into sports, education, politics and entertainment... and the zombies just keep following them into the abyss - destruction of American culture = God's wrath upon America?.  America has become a city of Sodom or Gommorah...   America is destroying themselves... and God won't intervene... the destruction of America is happening from within.  This Penn State / football shite is just another example of it...

grow the f&k up you stupid occu-poopers, shower and get a job

get this bumper sticker at Zazzle

For crying out loud, there are even stupid "occupy" protestors in New Zealand now.  Hey, NZ unwashed, entitlement-minded unemployed idiotic leftist-greenie goombahs who are "protesting", go home, take a shower and get a job.  I'm tired of you.  I'm tired of working EVERY day and that taxes I PAY are going for YOUR welfare because YOU are too lazy to work.  You are bunch of a&&holes.

I'm reposting a great commentary article in full from James Lewis AT below and I agree with it 100000% percent:

The Only Good Occupation...

"Is getting a job. So you won't have to leech off Mom and Dad anymore.

Is taking responsibility for your own neurotic hangups, and not blaming your gnawing feelings of inferiority on the most miraculous, creative, and popular economic system in the world -- including the parts of China, India, and Russia that actually work.

Is learning about capitalism, before revealing your fathomless ignorance to the world. And no, Das Kapital is not about capitalism. It's about the personal alienation and greed of an angry kid who grew up in Prussia almost two hundred years ago, and who thirsted to make the whole world like the Prussian Empire, complete with millions of marching robots. (See North Korea today).

Is not getting manipulated by a sinister cabal of billionaire lefties who want to buy political power for themselves, and thinking that you're doing something noble, idealistic, and unselfish. You're not. You're just flattering your own neurotic egomania, the personality disorder that kept getting you in trouble with your family, your friends, and your impersonal sex partners.

Is growing up.

Is respecting other human beings, who know a lot more about living than you, in your arrogance, think you do.

Is understanding that the Nazi Occupation of Europe, the Chinese Occupation of Tibet, the Soviet Occupation of Eastern Europe, and the Radical Occupation of American Universities are all the same, evil, and deeply selfish thing. They always lead to tyrannies and dictatorships, and they always, always end in killing people by the hundreds of thousands. Or more.

Is to get that Communism has been more humanly destructive than Hitler, because Hitler lasted only 13 years before he shot himself in that bunker. Communist regimes lasted 70 years in the Soviet Empire, and killed 100 million people in that time, while making everybody else poor, miserable, and brainwashed.

Is to realize when you've been cultified and suckered, but good, by Crony Capitalists who have convinced you and a million other dead-heads to believe that you are going to bring peace, love, and proper obedience to the whole wide world. They are making out like bandits for themselves, and you're just the junior storm troopers.

Is to get that:

the leftie media are owned by Giant Corporations, you moron.

That the mind set of Occupy is identical to the mind-set of the Hitler Youth, of Mao's Red Guards who killed 40 million of their fellow Chinese, and of Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge, who killed three million innocent Cambodians --- while your kind did nothing but cover up those murders.

That Islamic mobs are just another version of your kind.

That the American people are learning from your Rich Kids' Revolution what you really are.

That capitalism is the engine of prosperity, technology, real science, and real progress.

Is to get it straight through your thick skull that we've seen your kind before -- we fought three major wars against your kind in the last 100 years -- and that the West, as decadent as it is, will gather itself together and win.

That normal people will win in the end, because capitalism, individualism, personal creativity, and electoral democracy are more powerful than a gaggle of power-hungry freaks.

So look, kids. There are all kinds of useful Occupations. But first one is to get a job and stop bothering productive people who are paying to keep your sorry hide in food, clothing, shelter, and police protection.

Lotsa luck, kids.

Don't forget to grow up. "

Greenfield warns: indoctrination on going

Daniel Greenfield points out the UN is working hard at indoctrinating American children.  Here is the schedule!

From Teaching Your Child to be a Dictator’s Lackey:

"Imagine your child’s school teaching him how wonderful dictatorships are by having him and his friends model their very own group of dictatorships as part of their education. Like so many other Orwellian nightmares in the American educational system, this one is very real and takes place through the Model UN program.

The Model UN program teaches American students that global government is better than national government and that the corrupt kleptocracy on Turtle Bay is the ideal state of mankind. Finally it trains them to put American presidents on trial for violating United Nations laws.

Twenty-two Model UN events are scheduled to take place in November alone and many more are set to follow month after month throughout the school year as the advocates of global government exploit the school system to indoctrinate a new generation in their roles as servants of the conclave of totalitarian regimes.

The Model UN program teaches students to act out roles as representatives of different UN nations, but its real goal is to teach them to reject American exceptionalism in favor of multilateralism by convincing them that countries vary in interests, not in character, and that the People’s Republic of China and Saudi Arabia are no different than the United States in their legitimacy or their form of government.

The great lie that the United Nations was built on is that the voices of all nations are equally valid, regardless if they are banana republics, brutal Islamic theocracies, Communist tyrannies or nations with free and open elections that offer human rights to all. The United Nations is a democracy, but it is a democracy of dictatorships.
The vast majority of the world’s population lives in the thrall of tyrannies and the Model UN program models the farce that this great collective of the oppressed is legitimately represented by the lackeys of tyrants who speak in their name under the United Nations flag. There are 26 full democracies to 55 authoritarian regimes with the latter outnumbering the former in population three to one. The average UN representative is not representing a people or a nation, he is there as the personal representative of an Assad, a Kim Jong Il or a Khaddafi."

Other recent articles from Mr. Greenfield:

End the occupation

"The big lie of Occupy Wall Street begins with its name, it isn't occupying Wall Street, it's occupying the resources of a city with a budget crisis on its hands."

"Every day that OWS continues to operate is another day that the city is under occupation, that its budget is being drained by political parasites with no shame and no red lines. It's time to end the occupation and send the parasites back where they came from."

a good progressive war

"Finally after ten years of bitter debates over when the United States is allowed to go to war, what a legitimate war is and how much intelligence, indignation and international approval is required before we go to war, the Obama administration has hand delivered the progressive definition of what a good liberal war is. If we can just analyze and break down the elements of what a good liberal war is, then we can be sure to have the support of the left in any future military campaign.

Bad War: A bad war is fought in response to an attack on the United States, the mass murder of American civilians, an attempted assassination of an American president and attacks on American aircraft.

Good War: A good war is fought on behalf of Islamic interests to the detriment of American interests.

Bad War: A bad war is initiated by the United States which gathers a coalition in support of its course of action.

Good War: A good war is initiated by France which eventually convinces the United States to go along because there’s an election coming up and it’s a chance for its failed leader to look tough.

Bad War: A bad war is a unilateral action fought by a coalition of 48 countries without United Nations approval."

Great stuff Daniel...! You're on fire...!

on the beach in NZ pondering

at Muriwai beach, NZ last week
Oct 14, I was out of town for a week then back Oct 23 showing my dad around Auckland city, the Waitakere rain forests and beaches for a week...  However, this week I haven't felt much like blogging.  Just feel like walking along the beach and relaxing.

Politics can be boring, eh?  However, these people rule our lives.  They must be held to account...

NZ has their 3 year elections this month.  The 2 major parties are National (center-left-ish) and Labour (far-left-ish).  Labour is way down in the polls.  Under the MMP system Labour could only 'win' if National doesn't get enough votes and agreements with the other smaller parties to form a coalition.

National might get enough votes to win on their own and not need any smaller parties.  I suppose that would be OK.  It would be better if National didn't have to cow-tow to minor parties - say the race based Maori party.  National has to make weird racially motivated "pay us" and "give us stuff" concessions to Maoris for them to agree to support policies National wants.  Its weird and gives way too much power to the wee and wrong racial parties.

Yep, I'd be fine if National was voted in to rule alone without any minor parties.  National needs to be held to account for their own policies. The current system, MMP, is just dumb. There is a referendum for NZ to have their say yea or nay to MMP.  Then, they'll (politicians) will "think about it" and possibly change the political system from MMP to something else.  Could be interesting I suppose. Maybe...

For American politics, the knives are out now for Herman Cain about some supposed "scandal" which happened 10 years ago.  The establishment and the left do not want a conservative black man in the White House.  He cannot leave the "all blacks should be in the Democratic plantation" meme.  How dare he be independent, a conservative and a successful leader and business owner.  How dare he.  Even conservatives are attacking him saying he doesn't have enough foreign policy experience (or some rot).  What, did Obumbles the magic dragon have oh-so-much experience with ANYTHING? America's standing in the world and foreign relations have magically healed under Obambam?  HARDLY...

For pete's sake, America needs a conservative POTUS.  If not in 2012, we'll work towards 2016.  In 2012 America should vote conservatives across the USA in federal and state positions and make Republicans the majority in the senate and house of representatives.  Thus, even if Obomination is re-selected illegally (might not get on Arizona ballot this time around: Sheriff Joe insists on validating birth records!), a majority of Republicans should be elected to stop the rise of communism-statism otherwise known as Democrats.  Perhaps...

We'll see.  Dunno.  America will get the politicians it deserves.  If people get engaged, informed and involved, Americans will turn away from the collectivist thinking and illegal fiats being imposed on it - and return to being a Republic.

But... America will have to want it.

In the mean time, I'll be on the beach... at least for awhile.  Pondering...

end the USA white house occupation in 2012

I've watched and read a bit, in complete disgust and dismay, about how the far leftist USA media fawn over the fake, Soros sponsored paid occupy "protestors" in various places across the states.

The only occupation that concerns me is the communist-leftists squatting in the people's white house in Washington.  They must be expelled.  Voting in 2012 is crucial to do just that.

So, while I will continue to ignore the ignorant stupidity the best I can, Robin of Berkeley at AT sums it all up the best in her recent Anatomy of an Occupation, a tidbit:

"In the service of shedding some light on our current occupiers, I offer the following observations:
Monkey see, monkey do: Leftists follow the leader. Since most progressives believe the anti-capitalist nonsense, the majority will follow in lock step. In liberal areas, there is groupthink -- cult-like behavior, where people must chant the same old tired mantras. To step out of line will undoubtedly bring social condemnation and shunning.

Indoctrination: While I thought I was an independent thinker, it never occurred to me to look outside the box. All of my media was leftist; the so-called independent bookstores (the ones that celebrate "Banned Books Week") ban conservative books. So while Noam Chomsky is always welcome to give a book reading, Ann Coulter would never be invited within 50 miles of here.

The programming is particularly acute in the schools. In Berkeley, we have Malcolm X Elementary School and Malcolm X Park. Just to make sure that the kiddies get the message to emulate Mr. X, public school students (and all city employees) get Malcolm X's birthday off (same with Indigenous People's Day, aka Columbus Day, and International Women's Day).

While most areas aren't so extreme, there are hard-core activists all over this nation's school systems with union jobs for life. It's not a coincidence that Bill Ayers is a tenured professor of education; he knew the power of brainwashing kids when knee-high. With youth and their parents subscribing to the Party Line, it's not difficult to lead the progressive sheep to slaughter.

Of course, leftists are badly misguided about what a revolution actually entails. They weren't told, for instance, that Che Guevara, whose handsome face is emblazoned on their fashionable t-shirts, was actually a psychotic killer. Che got such a thrill from watching executions that he had a picture window installed in his office, and had the butchery conducted below.

And then there's another historical fact that eludes our gullible revolutionaries. After a revolution, the activists and militants themselves often get offed. Of course this would be the case; why would the regime want troublemakers and insurrectionaries in the populace?"

Robin ends it succinctly with a sentiment I agree with 100000%:

"The best we can do is to dislodge the militants from the streets and restore order. But more than this: we need to expel the number one militant, the one with the secret cabal of Czars and obvious disdain for the Constitution.

Because the biggest danger isn't Occupy Chicago or Occupy Wall Street -- it's Obama himself. What we're seeing is: "Occupy The White House."

Our greatest peril isn't the mobs on the streets of Manhattan; it's having a President who thinks he's above the law. It's having our head of state support violent insurrections here and abroad.

The United States doesn't need any more occupations; what we need is a new occupant in the White House. And hopefully, prayerfully, we will have a new one come next November."

Amen, Robin, Amen.Read the rest here.

From Breitbart, more on the "Wake Up America" artwork at Jon McNaughton's site here. Below video explains it:

site-seeing, eating in Chicago and beyond

best apple pancake at Walker Brothers Original House of Pancakes, Wilmette, IL
Just like my Sep 2009 trip, did a lot of shopping and eating last week in Chicago.  We (my husband Shane and I) had the best pancakes, potato soup, burgers and pizza to name a few...  (have I mentioned pizza is a food group in Chicago?)
in front of the Pickwick theater in Park Ridge, IL
We stayed with my sister in Park Ridge and took the Metra (best public train evah!?) down town.
sitting on 2nd level, up top on a Metra train heading into Chicago - fun way to travel!
We walked east to Michigan Avenue, past the Art Institute to Millenium Park.

We stopped at "the bean" and took a stroll through Millennium Park.

We had lunch (best burgers!) at the Berghoff.

Berghoff's root beer

So we spent one afternoon doing the Chicago tourist thing.  Check.  We also went all over the suburbs visting family and friends - Wonder Lake, Aurora, Oswego, Wilmette, Winnetka, Mundelein, Addison and Glenview just to name a few. I grew up in Wilmette.  We drove by one of the prettiest churches there, the Baha'i Temple:

Up though Lake County and McHenry County, some corn fields awaited harvesting.

Yes, a whirlwind trip indeed including some shopping at some great Chicago area stores like Best Buy, Target, Fry's and Walgreens.  Aaaaah, shopping in the Chicago area - awesome!

lunch of wings from Hooters one day
shopping at Fry's electronics - we were like kids in a candy store

in front of my old high school New Trier in Winnetka, Illinois... we got a tour
in a New Trier hallway, the east campus in Winnetka Illinois - 3100 students attend New Trier and 95% go on to 4 year universities...

We attended my high school reunion.  Here I am with 3 other girls who went through kindergarten with me.  We did girl scouts, too.  Was good to see everyone!

About 200 people were at the reunion.

with my awesome sister in her lovely home in Park Ridge
See you later Chicago...  thanks for a good time.
