Sounds like there were some good and bad at CPAC 2013 this year.
Some weren't invited - like jihad warrior Pamela Geller. That was disappointing. The 'organizers' were most likely too influenced by 'establishment' or 'moderate' or 'Islamic sympathizer' types.
But there were some very motivational speeches - Sen Rand Paul, Dr. Ben Carson and Lt.Col Allen West - some of the good ones.

add Tom Hanks to the stinky statist pile
Add Tom Hanks to this list of Hollywood people I will NEVER watch again (like Jane Fonda who might play Nancy Reagan, geeez, Cuba & Venezuela facist dictator lovin' Sean Penn, idjit Matt Damon and a whole host of other Hollyweird leftist idjits...).
I will vote with my pocketbook by NOT purchasing ANY more of their tripe.
Chris Bannon at Breitbart explains it eloquently regarding HBO's 'Game Change' Palin hit piece:
"Like Clarence Thomas before her, Palin gets an electronic lynching by the mindless media morons and their special interest shock troops. If successful the slash and burn, march to the sea plan would leave nothing but a smoldering mound of ash where hope and promise had burned so brightly. And now we know, that our Hanks and his little TV film are part and parcel of that dastardly plan.
We thought, based on his pretend film characters and his spotless Hollywood reputation, that he was a man of chivalry, a man who would stand up to injustice and call out the bullies with us. He is, after all, known for his depictions of ordinary characters in extraordinary circumstances. But to our disappointment, Hanks took the low road and went "all in" with the unfortunate dark and corrupt forces of personal destruction.
For his part, Hanks goes above and beyond in his loathing portrayal of someone who, like him, overcame all the odds to achieve the American dream. Hard work, tenacity and determination made Hanks and Palin successful, and nobody ever handed them anything. But those virtues are only vices to Hanks now; a man on a different kind of mission.
The saddest part of this story is not Palin but that of Hanks. You see, he was in charge, and he could have risen to the occasion to be as great a producer as he is an actor. He could have taken this Capra-esque story and seized the moment to be heroic, but he passed on all that to instead be cool and loved and "with" the in-crowd. A great producer would have recognized the opportunity of a lifetime that this whole story presented. A first take on a strong, female character. Great characters in the form of the first African American candidate, a former first lady, the first Republican woman on the ticket and a certified American war hero. All of that in the midst of a world financial meltdown.
Trust me, material like that does not come along very often. But instead, Hanks, with his smirking co-conspirators by his side, decided to reduce it to the tabloid trash that it is and the very stuff he, of all people, should revile the most.
A simple question could have solved all of this. Did Heilemann & Halperin get it right, or did they just hear what they wanted to hear because of their own pre-disposition? Did it ever occur to anyone, especially Hanks, that McCain's political manager, Steve Schmidt, and crew, ran a terrible campaign for a very marginal candidate and that they, in fact, needed a scape goat to cover their professional tracks ? Did the authors of the book ever wonder why nobody wanted to go on the record ? The whole thing just stinks.
The unfortunate truth here is that nobody in the food chain wanted to know the truth, so everyone involved fell into line and turned all their guns on Palin, no questions asked. By doing so, they have lost any credibility as journalists, as political experts, as filmmakers and honest brokers.
Truth is stranger than fiction and like they say in the news biz ... you can't write this stuff. I and millions of Tommy's fans are disgusted by it all. We have been deceived and now we see the real Hanks fully exposed from behind the curtain. He is not the humble, "aw, shucks" guy we have been sold by the Hollywood media machine. He is, in fact, just another pompous, self-important pretender who thinks his unique pretending ability gives him license to pontificate."

top 10 lies from HBO's "Game Change"
I'm sure you will be really SHOCKED Hollywood HBO lefties made a movie ("Game Change") filled with lies about Sarah Palin's 2008 VP run with John McCain... No... not shocked? Of course you aren't... Last year, HBO obviously assumed Sarah would be running for 2012 potus and timed their movie release to a week after super Tuesday to try to potray her negatively.
Breitbart has a good round up of the top 10 lies in this movie. Save your money, don't give it to Hollywood liars. If you want to see a realistic movie about what Palin is about, go rent or watch "The Undefeated" instead: it is playing this week on ReelzChannel March 11th in the USA.
Here is just one of the ten lies at Breitbart about 'Game Change':

One character refers to former Vice President Dick Cheney as "Darth Vader," while the McCain/Palin rallies depict unhinged men yelling "terrorist" and "he's a Muslim" at the mention of Obama's name. Then, there was the the quote they placed toward the end of the movie which had Sen. John McCain (Ed Harris) warning Palin not to get "co-opted by Limbaugh and the other extremists." None of these instances were balanced and were clearly told from a left-wing point of view."

Palin at CPAC 2012

Gateway Pundit points out a few highlights from Sarah's speech:
"Our movement is bigger than one person…bigger than one candidate…bigger than one party. It’s about one country united under one God. We’re red, white, and blue, and President Obama, we are through with you.
Obama is transforming a shining city on a hill into a sinking ship. He has piled on trillions more in debt and has no plan to stop it. No budget for over 1,000 days.

She listed the failures of Obama’s spending spree:
Obama thinks we’re headed in the right direction. 7 out of 10 Americans think we’re headed in the absolute wrong direction.

I feel sorry for America
Sarah Palin has decided not to seek a GOP nomination for the 2012 election.
This news makes me sad, but I don't blame her. There is a huge pile of stinky corruption in Washington to clean up. The next potus has LOT of work to do. Perhaps Sarah could be tapped as the next Secretary of Energy.
I feel really sorry for America and that feeling hasn't waned since the loser-in-chief, the false usurper was placed illegally into the people's White House.
Conservatism needs to grow and spread to even begin to help clean America. Some say 'return to god' but really all that is needed is a 'return to morality'. The left has no morals, no sense, no plan except their goal of absolute power.
I feel sorry for the America who still believes the lying leftist media.
I feel sorry for American college kids who are brainwashed by leftist academia.
I feel sorry for American school kids learning leftist tripe in grade schools, TV or movies.
I feel sorry for hard working middle class Americans, the small business owners who provide 70% of jobs in America and are being taxed higher and higher.
I feel sorry for Americans who still think the women on "The View" are worth watching.
America, right now, you don't deserve a Palin presidency. May be you will in the future. Apparently, you have a LOT more suffering to do first.

Palin's ACES after 4 years = more tax revenue for Alaska
I have run into strange criticism from Palin-haters recently. They are upset about legislation she passed in 2007 in Alaska called ACES. To these critics, ACES is "horrible" and the "worst" legislation "ever". From what I've read, critics are standing on very wobbly legs and apparently must hate needy people relying on government assistance. (I'll get to that in a sec...)
Regarding why ACES critics are completely wrong, the best round up I found is from March 2011, Whitney Pritcher: part 1 here and part 2 here.
For this post, however, I want you ACES critics simply to think about people in the State of Alaska -> the needy people and those on welfare or any type of government assistance.
For starters, in general, I personally am against able bodied men and women to be on the dole at all. However, incapable, elderly, sick and needy do need a safety net. I have a heart and so do most conservatives. A safety net is currently there for those in need in productive and wealthy societies. However, those who CAN work (doing ANYTHING) - SHOULD work. That said: every state has people dependent on the government to survive.
News flash: state government doesn't produce anything. So where does state government get (most) money? Tax revenues.
In 2009 and 2010, the Alaska Health and Human Services department spent about $2,000,000 dollars on the following:

More state revenue = good. Less revenue = bad.
This leads me to the big question of today: where does Alaska get its MAJORITY of tax revenue from? Let's go to the source shall we. From the "Oil and Gas Production Tax Status Report to the legislature Alaska Department of Revenue" January 18, 2011:
"The State of Alaska depends heavily on the oil industry, with more than 80% of its unrestricted revenue coming from oil taxes and royalties."
Hey ACES critic, let that sink in for a minute. 80% of unrestricted revenue comes from oil taxes and royalties.
Oil and gas production in Alaska = revenue = taxes. GOT IT? From the same Jan 2011 report:
"State revenues under PPT and ACES exceeded the amount that would have been received under ELF for each of the four fiscal years since implementation of a net profits tax."
The current legislation (ACES) Sarah Palin implemented generates more taxes and revenue for Alaskans compared to its predecessor. Here is a visual:

Alaska's January 2011 report does also say production in 2010 was down a bit, but from April 2010, how were things at Miller Energy? "Miller's CEO, Scott Boruff, has described his company as one of the fastest growing that no one knows about.
Boruff said Wednesday that Obama's new domestic oil strategy opens the door for Miller Energy to secure more drilling permits in Alaska.
"We've got an open door now to drill," Boruff said. "It's exciting."
The company disclosed March 15 that its asset value is more than $492 million, including oil and natural gas reserves valued at $372 million based on oil selling for $61.18 per barrel and gas at $4.75 per million cubic feet.
The company said the increase in asset value is a direct result of the December acquisition of Pacific Energy Resources assets through a Chapter 11 bankruptcy auction in which Miller bought onshore and offshore production facilities, an offshore oil and gas drilling platform, leases on more than 600,000 acres of land and other infrastructure.
The Pacific Energy property had included abandoned production facilities off the coast of California with significant environmental liability that scared away potential investors, according to Miller Energy. Miller was able to buy the Pacific Energy assets when the U.S. Bankruptcy Court separated the California and Alaska properties.
Last week, the company announced third quarter earnings of $271.9 million, or $9.51 per fully diluted share, for the period ending Jan. 31 and revenue of $1.1 million for the period."

Well, good for Miller. Sure sounds like they are doing well... and any tax revenue generated under ACES right NOW will benefit Alaskans...
If you care about needy people in Alaska then you should be happy ACES is in place generating more tax revenue like it has been for the past 4 years. Also, p.s., Governor Parnell is in charge. If you have problems with current Alaskan legislation, take it up with him Alaska. More from Whitney P:
"Governor Parnell is not the only one with donors who may have a vested interested in changes to ACES and have ties to the corrupt oil taxation processes of the past. Rep. Anna Fairclough’s, who headed up the HB 110 efforts, greatest percentage of 2010 election funding came from energy and natural resource industry including BP and ConoccoPhillips. BP and ConoccoPhillips spoke before the House Resource committee in February to advocate for the proposed changes to ACES. Another proponent of this bill is Rep. Mike Hawker ,who is no friend of Governor Palin and is one of the charter members of the Corrupt B*****s Club (CBC), the name corrupt and boastful legislators gave to themselves because of their embrace of their own corruption. Hawker, in addition to Rep.Chenault, were two legislators who voted for HB 110 and who received tens of thousands in campaign donations from VECO executives. Hawker and Chenault voted for Governor Murkowski’s corruption tainted PPT and against Governor Palin’s ACES. Beyond that, the proponents of this bill have a history of engaging in crony capitalism, corruption, and unethical behavior. While it is unlikely that Senate version of the bill is unlikely to pass, Governor Parnell supports changes to ACES, and there is the potential for such a bill to be taken up again next year. These are the very things that Governor Palin has fought against her entire political career. Governor Palin has called out the unethical behavior of Alaska GOP chair Randy Ruedrich when she was an oil and gas commissioner. She implemented corruption free ACES project that was passed in a transparent manner without the outside influence of oil companies. She championed the AGIA pipeline project that was negotiated in a transparent manner. She has called out the Obama administration on their pervasive crony capitalism."

"Our first quarter revenues more than doubled since last year due to new oil wells that we reworked in Alaska,” stated Scott Boruff, CEO of Miller Energy Resources. “We expect to accelerate our redevelopment efforts on the Osprey platform in the Cook Inlet of Alaska during the second half of fiscal 2012 as our new drilling rig comes online. We anticipate the new drilling rig to be delivered later this month and our crews are preparing to deploy it as soon as possible."
Well, good for Miller. Sure sounds like they are doing well... and any tax revenue generated under ACES right NOW will benefit Alaskans...

"Governor Parnell is not the only one with donors who may have a vested interested in changes to ACES and have ties to the corrupt oil taxation processes of the past. Rep. Anna Fairclough’s, who headed up the HB 110 efforts, greatest percentage of 2010 election funding came from energy and natural resource industry including BP and ConoccoPhillips. BP and ConoccoPhillips spoke before the House Resource committee in February to advocate for the proposed changes to ACES. Another proponent of this bill is Rep. Mike Hawker ,who is no friend of Governor Palin and is one of the charter members of the Corrupt B*****s Club (CBC), the name corrupt and boastful legislators gave to themselves because of their embrace of their own corruption. Hawker, in addition to Rep.Chenault, were two legislators who voted for HB 110 and who received tens of thousands in campaign donations from VECO executives. Hawker and Chenault voted for Governor Murkowski’s corruption tainted PPT and against Governor Palin’s ACES. Beyond that, the proponents of this bill have a history of engaging in crony capitalism, corruption, and unethical behavior. While it is unlikely that Senate version of the bill is unlikely to pass, Governor Parnell supports changes to ACES, and there is the potential for such a bill to be taken up again next year. These are the very things that Governor Palin has fought against her entire political career. Governor Palin has called out the unethical behavior of Alaska GOP chair Randy Ruedrich when she was an oil and gas commissioner. She implemented corruption free ACES project that was passed in a transparent manner without the outside influence of oil companies. She championed the AGIA pipeline project that was negotiated in a transparent manner. She has called out the Obama administration on their pervasive crony capitalism."

I hope Sarah jumps in the 2012 presidential race. I can imagine her happily signing repeal orders for all the horrible leftist legislation enacted under the Obozo regime. Yes, Obozo as in Bozo the clown... by I digress and have now insulted clowns. Geez, at least clowns make people laugh. The clowns in Washington are only creating tears, desparation, loss, sadness or people who are now really motivated out of anger working on ending the warp speed increase of marxist-statist policies.
Oh yes, I can see Sarah repealing ObamaScare "health care" take over. She can start the ball rolling on the clean up effort to end unnecessary departments like the EPA or Department of Energy just to name a couple satist horrors America does not need any more. Each state can have their own energy or environmental regulations for their own industries.
The federal government has grown way too big and out of control. Each new regulation or law takes another iota of freedom away. America needs smaller, smarter government and to get out of the way of private sector growth.
Yes, Sarah can put America back on a path of restoration and pro-exceptionalism.
I hope she jumps in the important 2012 race. We need her... Will something be announced soon? I await patiently... along with millions of others.

I am critical about a lot... especially America politics.
Sarah, unfortunately, also supported John McCain's 2010 reelection campaign in Arizona. *sigh* I know she had to. He selected her to run in 2008 as his VP. Sadly, McCain was the Republican beltway nominee and is a typical big government RINO. He is really not worthy of Sarah's further support - most recently he tried to disparage TEA party Americans calling them 'hobbits' as he scolded them in the debt ceiling arguments. (psst, John McCain, the hobbits SAVE the day, right?!... sheesh, you made a mistake to keep him in office Arizona...) I do not support the blustering McCain at all. I do support Sarah but am still critical of some of her actions or positions. Noone is perfect, but politicians need to be held accountable.
I am critical of Rick Perry's promotion of school programs to teach Islam. Geez, America children doesn't need to be proselytized - especially in public schools. Teach them real history. Saudi money is already having history rewritten in text books at some colleges. Now, apparently, in Texas - you can learn the fake history about Islam in school even before college. Huh? I don't like it.
I am critical Michelle Bachman hasn't really ever run or governed anything. She lacks experience. Obumble's inept experience includes community organizing and towing the far leftist line. How is that working out for America? Badly. (Don't get me started on Newt...)
I'm critical of all politicians. Most of them say whatever the group who they happen to be addressing want to hear. It is the rare politician who sticks to his or her ideals.
I come to conclusions on my own. I try to use critical thinking, yet I am open to change my mind. I'm critical of my own conclusions.
My parents and being raised Catholic taught me the building blocks of morality. The left has been pushing immoral beliefs onto the American public for decades. Morality holds society together. With no morals, there will be no society. When I say morals I mean the basic human tenets of behavior found in most religions and belief systems. Lets take a quick look at the Jewish and Hebrew ten commandments:
1. I am the Lord your G-d who has taken you out of the land of Egypt.
2. You shall have no other gods but me.
3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your G-d in vain.
4. You shall remember the Sabbath and keep it Holy.
5. Honor your mother and father.
6. You shall not murder.
7. You shall not commit adultery.
8. You shall not steal.
9. You shall not bear false witness.
10. You shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor.

Is the death penalty immoral? (no) ... an "eye for an eye" (justice!) is in the bible
I believe basic morality is something the left is trying to remove completely from America. This means removing America's Christian-Judeo foundation. Where am I wrong in this conclusion? Give me your critique. Note: critical thinking skills is not name calling.
Most politicians do not have your best interest in mind, just their own pursuit of power and money. But guess what, they deserve all justified criticism. They are, after all, entrusted to their positions and are being paid... by you.

We may quibble amongst ourselves about who will be the best candidate as the Republican primaries continue. Do we really need MORE than a year, in this day and age of instant world wide information on the internet to properly vet candidates? Nope.
I've already vetted my candidate ... she just hasn't announced she's running yet. I sure hope she does. Great video about Sarah Palin from 2009 ... still relevant.

Recent entry Conquering the Storm highlights exactly how Sarah has been correct all along in her commone sense comments and policy positions especially regarding the recent Federal debt "crisis" (of the Dems own making!). From Sarah:
"Be wary of the efforts President Obama makes to “fix” the debt problem. The more he tries to “fix” things, the worse they get because his “solutions” always involve spending more, taxing more, growing government, and increasing debt. This debt problem is the greatest challenge facing our country today. Obviously, President Obama doesn’t have a plan or even a notion of how to deal with it. His press conference today was just a rehash of his old talking points and finger-pointing. That’s why he can’t be re-elected in 2012.
Our economic news is disheartening and the task before us can seem daunting, but we must not lose our sense of optimism. People look around today and may see only the negative. They see a culture and a nation in decline, but that’s not who we are! America must regain its optimistic pioneering spirit again. Our founders declared that “we were born the heirs of freedom.” We are the heirs of those who froze with Washington at Valley Forge, who held the line at Gettysburg, who freed the slaves, carved a nation out of the wilderness, and allowed reward for work ethic. reminder to 2010 USA freshmen in congress: why you were sent
At FOX nation, Sarah Palin sends a note to the Nov 2010 congressional freshman reminding them why they were elected:
"Republicans campaigned on a promise to rein in out-of-control government spending and to repeal and replace the massive, burdensome, and unwanted health care law President Obama and the Democrat Congress passed earlier this year in defiance of the will of the majority of the American people. These are promises that you must keep. Obamacare is a job-killer, a regulatory nightmare, and an enormous unfunded mandate. The American people don’t want it and we can’t afford it. We ask, with all due respect, that you remember your job will be to work to replace this legislation with real reform that relies on free market principles and patient-centered policies. The first step is, of course, to defund Obamacare.You’ve also got to be deadly serious about cutting the deficit. Despite what some would like us to believe, tax cuts didn’t get us into the mess we’re in. Government spending did. Tough decisions need to be made about reducing government spending. The longer we put them off, the worse it will get. We need to start by cutting non-essential spending. That includes stopping earmarks (because abuse of the earmark process created the “gateway-drug” that allowed backroom deals and bloated budgets), canceling all further spending on the failed Stimulus program, and rolling back non-discretionary spending to 2008 levels. You can do more, but this would be a good start.
In order to avert a fiscal disaster, we will also need to check the growth of spending on our entitlement programs. That will be a huge challenge, but it must be confronted head on. We must do it in a humane way that honors the government’s current commitments to our fellow Americans while also keeping faith with future generations. We cannot rob from our children and grandchildren’s tomorrow to pay for our unchecked spending today. Beyond that, we need to reform the way Congress conducts business in order to make it procedurally easier to cut spending than to increase it. We need to encourage zero-based budgeting practices in D.C. like the kind fiscally conservative mayors and governors utilize to balance their budgets and reduce unnecessary spending."
Are people still listening to Sarah? Well of course they are. She speaks for many of Americans because she if one of us. She is America. We the people ... are also the undefeated.
And no, we.the.people aren't the "extremists", we're the hostages... hostages of over spending by Democrats and their socialist policy implementation. THE "Democratic" OVER SPENDERS fully own this "crisis" and doom their own party because of it. But let's be completely accurate: it is NOT a "debt" crisis, it is a budget problem and an OVER SPENDING problem: sooooo, just STOP THE SPENDING!
Sarah knows all this and she is our warrior on the front lines battling for America. Patrick Adams describes why the Palin army is so strong:

So how is Steve Bannon's film The Undefeated going? It did very well on its opening weekend and is coming to more theaters across the USA - including Chicago. Yes, there are MANY Palin fans in Chicago.
"Ultimately, I thought she was the type of political force that was going to be around, needed to be treaded on carefully, but would never have anything substantial to offer to the cause of conservatism other than rallying troops which I still believed was a valuable service.
I thought she hadn’t gotten a fair shake in the media, but I felt confident that I could see through the bias and that I understood who she was, what she had done and what my opinion would probably be about her going forward.
I was entirely incorrect."
"In short, the execution of this film is excellent.
But what had me and my wife blown away by the time it was over, was the avalanche of information and perspectives that had been hidden from us over the years. As I would like for you to listen to my interview with Steve, I will not get into the substance of what caused the change. I want you to hear it for yourself.
I pride myself on my ability to know when something is baloney, almost instinctively. On Sarah Palin, I was so incredibly hoodwinked that the one word that my wife and I agreed described how we felt after watching it, was shame. Yes of course invigoration, satisfaction and all the other things you experience when watching a good film, but about how we had handled our vetting of Mrs. Palin, shame was the word that best described it.
Shame for not bothering to look up her record. Shame for not reading her story. Shame for turning the channel when she came on the tv. Shame for not listening to people that we had a great deal of respect for like Andrew Breitbart, Tammy Bruce, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.
As Breitbart points out in the film, the greatest shame is that while this woman was savaged to degrees you may not even realize yet, some of us sat back and let it happen. For me to buy into the media template and not defend someone who’s only offense was being a conservative, is the absolute antithesis of what I stand for, and something that I shall never allow to happen again."

"The leader who challenges that dark fantasy must have a great and inspirational belief in the strength and wisdom of the American people. Where the State has failed, free men and women will succeed. Where regulation has failed, enterprise will triumph. The rot of central planning will burn away in the light of private sector risk and investment. It shouldn’t have taken us decades to remember that politicians don’t know squat about running a business… but better late than never.
I want Palin to run because she gets all that, and doesn’t need stare into a mirror before TV interviews and remind herself to believe it. The people who look down their noses at her have an equally low opinion of the public they have failed so utterly. Worship of the State is all about submission. I don’t see anything coming out of the Left that I feel like submitting to any longer.
We the people of the United States stand on the verge of withdrawing our consent from a collapsing system that will curse us with its dying breath. That’s going to take guts. Sarah Palin honestly believes we can do it. So do I. The time for doubting ourselves is over."

But seriously—below the surface, in the seamy American leftist underbelly, the anti-Palin sentiments are driven by a hatred of real conservatism, wholesale opposition to Christianity, and a surprisingly virulent, anti-modern loathing of real women in public life.

For example, other than the emotional statement that “Palin is an idiot,” what proof is offered for her incompetence? The seething opposition to her is self-contained and utterly circular, a perfect tautology. In other words, we know Sarah is an imbecile because smart, well-informed people have already established her cretinism as one of the chief laws of the universe.
