Auckland summer Jan'10

  1. So, you think you live in paradise just because you're surrounded by all those beautiful plants, huh?

    It's been below freezing here (Kansas City) for almost two weeks straight, during which time we've had about a foot of snow on the ground. You know you're jealous of me. Admit it!!

    Yep, pretty much an island paradise here this time of year anyway - knock on wood.

    I did miss snow and cold - oh for about 1 hour or 2 during Christmas since I'm used to cold Decembers being from Chicago.

    In NZ, they don't say "knock on wood" though, instead saying "touch wood". No knocking needed down here, just a touch to avoid bad things I guess...

    I'll eat those words if one of the 50+ dormant volcanoes surrounding Auckland blows.

    For now... that is a risk we take living here... on a gorgeous semi-tropical island! ...come on down for a visit :-)
