Democrats admit their "Gas Bill" Will Not Cut Gas Prices and gas prices are high because the liberals want it that way...

Did you know some in the USA (eg Wisconsin, New England area) are now ditching their expensive tractors, because of high fuel costs, to go back to using oxen.

Does that seem like slightly backwards-ass-progress to you or hip-greenie-forward-thinking?

Sure, couple of oxen might be cheaper, but not if you count time and effort.  Oxen are not faster or easier. In the USA alone, there are some 300,000,000 million people to FEED.

How would it EVER be practical for large farms to plow thousands upon thousands of acres ONLY with oxen? It might be do-able if you employed a hundred thousand people and a few hundred thousand oxen. But, um, wouldn't that lead to a lot vet bills? Animal abuse? Lots of dung and oxen farts? OH NOES: farting would mean an increase in lefty-dreaded C02 emissions?!

OK, nope, we can all agree this is not practical at all. But lets suspend reality for a minute and let's say all American farmers had to turn to oxen instead... perhaps by government mandate.

Then what?

Would everything be oxen 'n' rainbows (instead of unicorns) and hunky-dory easy-peasy? (rrrrright...)

What if the government decided, in its collectivist rule, to then regulate all oxen related farm activity?  (... I can of course see thousands of working-animal rallies spanning the nation promoting fair animal-rights or oxen unions even!  but don't call them "pets" of course, only companion animals or working animals... err... or something like that...)

I suggest a very imporant lesson in historial farming under an oppressive regime should be remembered by what happened in the Ukraine some 785 years ago.

REMINDER: collectivism policies = communism. Communism = leads to death of millions.

Gulf update: Sea Life Flourishing & 99.6% Fed waters OPEN

Lou Dolinar at National Review points out: "The Great Oil Spill Panic of 2010 will go down in history as mass hysteria on par with the Dutch tulip bubble."

"The catastrophists were wrong (again) about the Deep Water Horizon oil spill. There have been no major fish die-offs. On the contrary, a comprehensive new study says that in some of the most heavily fished areas of the Gulf of Mexico, various forms of sea life, from shrimp to sharks, have seen their populations triple since before the spill. Some species, including shrimp and croaker, did even better."

"The growth of the fish population is not occurring because oil is good for fish. Rather, it is occurring because fishing is bad for fish. When fishing was banned for months during the spill, the Gulf of Mexico experienced an unprecedented marine renaissance that overwhelmed any negative environmental consequences the oil may have had, researchers say.

Even the researchers themselves, however, were surprised by the results."

"The Dauphin Island Sea Lab, a teaching and research consortium of 22 colleges and universities in Alabama, ran the fish-population study. Asked why the group has been virtually invisible in the national media, Valentine says that, unlike some scientists, they refrained from speculating about the impact of the spill until they had real evidence.

Gulf in recovery, oil disappearing & LA begins fishing

Remember the disaster to end all life in the Gulf of Mexico? Surprise (not really), the Gulf is on the mend.

If you hadn't heard, fishing has resumed in some areas. August 2, 2010 pix above is Gov. Bobby Jindal pushing BP to approve seafood certification program. Gov. Jindal wants:
"BP to fund a $173 million, long-term seafood testing and marketing campaign aimed at restoring consumer confidence in the state's seafood products."

Check fish OK = good idea.

Um, so about the "disaster", where did the oil go anyway?

From Aug 4th, 2010 RestoreTheGulf.gov:
"A third (33 percent) of the total amount of oil released in the Deepwater Horizon/BP spill was captured or mitigated by the Unified Command recovery operations, including burning, skimming, chemical dispersion and direct recovery from the wellhead, according to a federal science report released today.

An additional 25 percent of the total oil naturally evaporated or dissolved, and 16 percent was dispersed naturally into microscopic droplets. The residual amount, just over one quarter (26 percent), is either on or just below the surface as residue and weathered tarballs, has washed ashore or been collected from the shore, or is buried in sand and sediments. Dispersed and residual oil remain in the system until they degrade through a number of natural processes. Early indications are that the oil is degrading quickly."

Say, hey, do we trust the new government line "all the oil is gone!"... Well probably no 100% trust, buuut, oil is diminishing. From New Scientist:
"We can't find oil at the surface and, as of this week, we cannot find it deep down either," says Terry Hazen, a microbial ecologist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California, whose research has focused on the area within 100 kilometres of the wellhead.
Hazen thinks he can explain why the plumes are gone. He had previously collected water samples from inside and outside of the plumes, which he kept at 4 °C - the coldest temperature along the floor of the Gulf. Within days, he found that the microbial populations in the samples began to shift in favour of those able to break down oil. The findings tally with those of other ecologists working in the field. Hazen also found that the oil disappeared faster still in the presence of Corexit 9500A, the dispersant used by BP in the Gulf waters."

So, NOW WE HAVE TO WORRY about "toxic" dispersants killing everything?! umm... are you scared of shampoo, lotions or juice?! The dispersant ingredients from the New York Times:

"This afternoon Nalco added a release to its website that matched up the chemical components of Corexit with the common household substances that it had named last month as sharing common ingredients with the dispersant. According to Nalco, ioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate is also used as a "wetting agent in cosmetic products, gelatin, [and] beverages"; sorbitan, tri-(9Z)-9-octadecenoate, poly(oxy-1,2-ethanediyl) derivs is found in body and face lotion; sorbitan, mono-(9Z)-9-octadecenoate, poly(oxy-1,2-ethanediyl) derivs is used in mouthwash and baby bath products; and sorbitan, mono-(9Z)-9-octadecenoate is found in body shampoo and juice."

What does all of this mean? Yes there is clean up & might take a bit. Yes there was huge ineptness by the golf-playing WH-Usurper-Regime - and BP - who share the blame for the stalled clean up in the first place... but is it all a continued epic disaster of gi-normous proportions so USA & the whole earth should give up drilling for oil? Nope. Quit freaking out eco freaks. Take a breather. Seriously.

Lastly some wise words from the Aug 4th, 2010 Rush Limbaugh show:

RUSH: ... New York Times today on Day 105: "US Finds Most Oil From Spill Poses Little Additional Risk." On Day One, EIB reported that most oil from the spill would pose little risk. So here's the president. They plugged the hole today, but he doesn't sound happy about it. Most of that "oil has been dispersed or removed." Remember this was the worst environmental disaster in our history. So remember last week. There were no concrete implications, by the way. There was no reason for a drilling moratorium. There was no reason for any panic whatsoever. And note it was BP that plugged the hole for Obama's birthday. Obama didn't. BP plugged the hole. BP thought they were giving him a present. BP was shaken down for $20 billion. Turns out there weren't any "concrete implications" whatsoever.

Remember last week we pointed out to you that the partisan political operative media, now that the truth was known that the oil was not a disaster -- that the leak (the spill, whatever you want to call it) had not fouled anything, that it was not Armageddon -- said, "Well, we can't let go of the story. We need the disaster! We need to move cap and trade forward. We need to move the Obama, anti-capitalist agenda forward." So what did they do? They came out and said, "The dispersants! (heavy breathing) BP used more dispersants than they should have and they fouled the water with dispersants," and even the EPA said, "Well, not really. They didn't use all that much more than what we had suggested." But the media tried to keep it alive. "Dispersants now! What the oil didn't kill the dispersants were going to kill," and the dispersants are not poison. They're not toxic.

Amen Rush... lots more other stuff to worry about with the Dem-Regimists running the show...

Update on Obummer's health care: still BAD for America

· Fact: Citizens will be forced to purchase costlier health insurance or pay a tax, but illegal immigrants will continue to get free care and those costs will be shifted onto citizens.

· Fact: The individual mandate will fail with the IRS as the health care enforcer, but uninsured Americans will be considered violators of the law even as costs increase further.

· Fact: Millions of Americans will lose their current health plan as employers either drop coverage or purchase more expensive, government-dictated health insurance.

· Fact: Patients with pre-existing conditions still face care restrictions, since the new federal risk pool is seriously underfunded and will offer coverage months after required by the new law.

· Fact: The new health law increases the cost of health care. "

NZ starts a march towards communism?

I listened to a good portion of Leighton Smith's News Talk ZB radio show today and caught the call in from the awesome Lord Christopher Monckton at 9:30am.

Lord Monckton is sad for NZ and thinks "NZ just took a first step towards communism" (ok, 'socialism' or 'marxism' or 'collectivism' - your pick) by the National goverment implementing a tax on air (ETS in effect 1-July-2010).

C02 is NOT a pollutant. Climate-change-global-warming is not man made: NEW STUDIES and evidence is coming out DAILY refuting ALL Goracle-ish and UN IPCC claims. People in free, western worlds MUST hold their politicians to account, but the NZ public? Besides a few conservative voices, NZ probably won't be too concerned until the NZ economy slowly grinds to a halt. That was Lord Monckton's point: the NZ National party has started the ball rolling to economic oblivion. Shame really...

"It is true that liberalism is cruel, corrupt, wasteful, and unjust. But one should never forget its delusion. The delusion is a simple one. It is a belief that government can be made rational and efficient. This delusion leads our liberal friends into disaster after disaster.

Liberals were shocked that President Bush failed to get everyone tucked up in bed in a couple of days after Hurricane Katrina. They knew that a rational and efficient government, run by people like them who believed in government, could do better.

Now President Obama is busy proving them wrong.

Unfortunately, conservatives aren't helping. In pointing out the serious lapses in the president's leadership qualities, we conservatives are missing the point. We are encouraging liberals in their delusion. Instead, we should remind everyone that of course a bunch of corporate bureaucrats, combined with a bunch of government bureaucrats, are going to be a bit off the mark.

A bit of presidential leadership might have made a difference, we could have said, but not much. The president brings the talents and experience of twenty years in left-wing organizing to the presidency. In that school, the attitude, the gesture, is all-important. So obviously he's not going to be much help in a crisis.

But leader or no leader, it takes time to plug a hole -- especially a hole under five thousand feet of water.

The big problem for the president is that the Gulf oil spill is his fourth major presidential mistake. The first big mistake was the $787-billion stimulus package. The second was the appeasement of thug dictators, Islamist and leftist. The third mistake was ObamaCare. The fourth is the Gulf.

(The bailouts of the auto industry I count as merely a crime, an assault and battery on the principle of private property and senior creditors, the very foundation of our freedom and prosperity.)

The horrifying thing is that we Americans can't afford all these mistakes. We can't afford a president stuck on stupid."

What if recent Gulf oil spill was planned?

What if the recent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico ... was planned (yep by W.House and BP together...)?

Sounds a bit like a conspiracy theory, doesn't it. Or is it not such a stretch?...

Just read an article which ties some really interesting information together making this suggestion perhaps not so conspiratorial as it first sounds.

Couple of key questions:

Weren't there federal (?) inspectors on rig site 10 days before explosion & leak start?

Does it seem like between all the partying and McCartney concerts, that Obumbles could care less and wants it to keep gushing? (of course besides the inappropriate 'who's ass should I kick comment' eh...)

Why did the top BP guy sell big chunk of his stocks just a few weeks before the spill?

Oil spill crisis? Just an opportunity for O to stop drilling 'n' stuff

Some comments from 30-Apr-2010 lead me to think the Obumbles regime thought this week's Gulf 'oil spill crisis' was merely a great opportunity to promote their alternative 'green' energy & bulls**t technology... like wind farms!

Per law, Federal Government was SUPPOSED to ACT and help OVERSEE CLEANUPS in any large oil spill. Did they act right away? It appears they DIDN'T.

From PowerLine: "Is it Obama's fault?"

"The Obama administration failed to respond promptly to the oil spill in the Gulf, and that its belated response was inadequate.

Is that a fair charge? Normally, I would be slow to blame government at any level for a natural (or, as here, man-made) disaster. But the basic facts are curious: the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded on April 21, nine days ago. This was no minor event; at least 11 workers were killed. The resulting oil slick has been evident, covering many miles, for some days now. Yet the federal response lagged.

There is a basic difference between this incident and Hurricane Katrina, to which it is being compared. In the case of Katrina, the primary responsibility for disaster response lay with the local and state governments. The local response was very poor; among other things, the governor of Louisiana was slow to call out the National Guard. Here, responsibility lay with the Obama administration from the beginning. State and local governments have no jurisdiction and no ability to deal with an oil spill miles out to sea. Only the federal government can act. It didn't, until, perhaps, it was too late.

Should more have been done, sooner? It is way too early to tell. The facts will emerge over the next several years. But the Obama administration's response does seem to have been oddly slow."

"The Department of Homeland Security waited until Thursday to declare that the incident was “a spill of national significance,” and then set up a second command center in Mobile. The actions came only after the estimate of the size of the spill was increased fivefold to 5,000 barrels a day.

The delay meant that the Homeland Security Department waited until late this week to formally request a more robust response from the Department of Defense, with Ms. Napolitano acknowledging even as late as Thursday afternoon that she did not know if the Defense Department even had equipment that might be helpful.

By Friday afternoon, she said, the Defense Department had agreed to send two large military transport planes to spray chemicals that can disperse the oil while it is still in the Gulf.

HERE'S THE KICKER:

...But it is still the government, in this case the Coast Guard, that has the final say. A law passed a year after the 1989 Exxon Valdez disaster makes the owner of a rig or vessel responsible for cleaning up a spill. But oversight of the cleanup is designated to the Coast Guard, with advice from other federal agencies."

Obama had a press conference today, the original purpose of the press conference -- not a press conference, he had a ceremony outside the Oval Office in the Rose Garden -- and the purpose of it was to tout a nonexisting economic growth rate. The actual growth rate's about 1.6%. I'll explain how that happens in mere moments. But something got in the way of this. That damn oil slick. Obama's Katrina. That damn oil slick just got in the way so he had to give some lip service to the oil slick, (imitating Obama) "It's all British Petroleum's fault, they gotta clean it up, I'm sending some czars down there. Now let me tell you what I really came out here for," and look at these people, and he had seven or eight props up there disguised as human beings to tout new jobs in the so-called clean energy sector and so forth.

It is clear this guy does not really want to be president. He doesn't want to deal with the country's problems. He does not have any desire to manage. He can't be bothered with the responsibilities of his office. He simply is wanting and is imposing his ideology without distraction. He wants to make sure that he gets this transformation of the country done. That's what he's doing. He's getting even with his country for all of its transgressions in the past. So we got an oil slick, added benefit, now he can cancel offshore drilling. It's an amazing thing to watch. The amount of time he spent on the oil slick today versus the amount of time he spent on those props disguised as human beings and their jobs was fascinating. So there you have it."
