Snaps around Auckland

Click to watch a quick video I made
of what our life in Auckland looks like...

  1. Terrific slideshow! Thanks for sharing. I loved the pic of your dining room table with the big bouquet and the lucious palm trees inches from your deck. You probably can pick kiwis off tress right from your deck.

We got another 4 inches of snow last night, bringing the total to about 18 inches in two weeks. And to top it off, as of about 11:30am, it's only 8 degrees today. And I just heard it is 37 degrees BELOW ZERO in International Falls, and that's not including the wind chill. Can you imagine how unbearable it would be if we weren't experiencng a global warming catastrophe? :-)

I read your blog and Trevor at New Zeal. If the two of you have views representative of the majority of New Zealanders, NZ is a very freedom loving country. You are so lucky to live there. Thanks for all you do in the name of freedom with your blog.

We here in the U.S. are going in exactly the wrong direction. I pray it's not too late to turn things around. I've actually given some thought to looking into what the requirements are to emigrate to NZ. I assume my net worth is not yet large enough to qualify so I'm probably going to be stuck in this "socialist utopia" with an out of control government for the foreseeable future.

    Thanks again. -- SCOTT

  2. Glad you enjoyed the slideshow. We just started a small veggie garden this month: tomatos, lettuce, red pepper (called "capsicum" here, not sure why), oregano, fijoa (a fruit found in NZ) & mint.

Our back yard only 1/2 finished as we hired a builder and put a new fence in, but still waiting for top soil delivery. I hadn't thought about growing kiwis, but may give it a go.

Shane's mum has a well established garden and pretty decent veg patch. She grows lots but still on smallish scale... tomatos, lettuce, potatos, strawberries, beans and has various fruit trees. She made a plum crumble dish with vanilla ice cream which was extremely yummy with plums from her garden.

I'm just getting started but hopefully will get some decent results with my wee veg path.

Glad you're reading NewZeal - Trevor is really good. I work full time so don't have time to do the extensive research like Trev or other blogs or alternative news sources, but just try to write about stuff I'm concerned about or enjoy sharing.

    Stay warm this winter, Scott!
