I really enjoy this type of commenter, logical, informed, enthusiastic and participating in helping to save American in 2012. Here are Miss or Mister "Hope Change" comments:

"Newt will be an outstanding president.

If Newt is the nominee, Newt will win the election, and conservatives will increase in the House and win the Senate. Newt is asking the American People to team up with him. The genius of the American People is what will restore our country to its constitutional basis.

The plan is to repeal Obamacare the first day. The plan is to coordinate with the House and Senate to have the legislation ready on the day Newt is sworn in. Then start with the legislature on a series of small, specific bills to make health care better, based on the patient-doctor relationship.

Self-government is a privilege and an experiment. Benjamin Franklin said we have a Republic "if you can keep it." That's us he was talking about. Are we such sad excuses for a free people that we will fail? Not on my watch, not if I can help it.

Think of the ones who have gone before us who have sacrificed so much so that we might live in freedom and prosperity.

Speaker Mr. Gingrich won the recent SC vote and might win in Florida, too. Mostly in favor of Newt, I did have a big problem with him endorsing Dede Scozzafava-beans (she is a horrid, evil viscious woman) and I cringe at the on-the-couch-with-PeeLousy pic seemingly endorsing AGW. Yep, Gingrich has made mistakes. But... noone is perfect. Gingrich is a flawed human. Just like everyone. Regarding his womanizing: yawn, so what? The 2nd wife making the ABC news with her vindictivness was his mistress first. She cannot throw stones: she lives in a glass house. Noone buying her shite except ABC.
Regarding leftists who now scream "character matters!!!", I remember the 8 years of non stop "its OK, sex and personal lives have NO impact on a president's duties..." media mantra over and over again their boy Billy "I did not have sex with that (Monica Lewinsky) woman" Clinton. (or ANY loony leftist - remember Edwards or Weiner?!) The LEFT and their lacky media zombies ARE the party of NO CHARACTER! The media wants to throw womanizing mud against Gringich?! I watched some re-runs of Grey’s Anatomy Sunday morning as we waited for rain to clear.

On a summer day many years ago as a teen still living at my mother’s house, I was chopping an onion. I was not paying close attention and the knife gently sliced deeply into the tip of the middle finger. The initial cut didn’t actually hurt that much, but onion juice seeped into my open finger.

Ow...

I rinsed my hand in cold water and squeezed it firmly with a paper towel to stop the bleeding.

The bleeding was profuse and was not stopping. I held my finger tight re-wrapping it with paper towels a few times they got soaked with blood.

“Mom... it’s not stopping...” I whimpered... “Should I go to the hospital?”

My mom, amused yet slightly perturbed that dinner preparation was now fully interrupted by a bleeding kid, came up with an idea.

“Let’s call Dr. Cunningham” she announced and picked up the phone.

The Cunninghams lived on the next block. They had lots of kids (7? 8?) and a huge, beautiful house. Their oldest daughter was my age and they had another daughter my younger sister’s age. We had been at their home several times for parties or to hang out and watch TV with Cunningham girls. Their kitchen was big. It had an island with stools in the middle, lots of tasteful dark wood and preppy dark navy blue and white color decor. I loved going to their house just to look at it. Mrs. Cunningham was an interior designer for rich clients and their home showcased her talent.

Dr. Cunningham was a successful brain surgeon highly respected in his field. He was a dashingly handsome man. Mrs. Cunningham was beautiful with short, wild, fluffy red hair and a permanent tan. Their kids were good looking, too. There were a few internal family fights throughout the years when passions and tempers flared – they looked like a perfect wealthy family but no, they weren’t perfect. Everyone has their share of problems of course, rich or poor.

“Hi Miles, this is Betty...” my mom said when he picked up the line. “Lisa just cut her finger badly and we’re not sure if we should go into the hospital, what do you think we should do?” she politely probed.

“....Oh...? OK... wonderful...! We’ll be right there, thank you so much” she declared as she hung up the phone. “We’re going to the Cunningham’s” said mom.

I put a fresh paper towel on my now throbbing finger and she and I drove the one minute to their house.

“Hi there Lisa, let’s take a look shall we?” says Dr. C smiling as we enter the back door into their lovely kitchen. My mom greets Mrs. C and a couple younger kids.

All of a sudden I realize my mother, Mrs. C and the kids had vacated the kitchen.

They had left me.

I was alone with Dr. C.

He was now getting a small surgery kit out of a drawer and I sat on a designer stool at their large island in the middle of their showcase kitchen awaiting my fate.

“You need a stitch or two” he happily quipped as he found the correct sized curved suture needle.

The fear set in but I swallowed and braced myself for some pain.

Dr. Cunningham deftly took my finger with his left hand and swiftly put a stitch in exact right spot while I glanced away. He knotted it and said “Just one stitch will do... Leave it in for a few days. I can take it for you when it heals”. The non-absorbable stitch took maybe 2-3 seconds. I was no longer bleeding. I was whole again. I went to find my mother who was down the hall in their gorgeous living room chatting away with Mrs. C.

“I needed a stitch...” I informed them and held up my finger. Crisis over.

“Thank you ...!” we both said to the Cunninghams as mom and I left a few minutes later.

I ponder how many stitches Dr. C had done on his own kids with his trusty surgery kit in their kitchen drawer. My small wound healed beautifully. I cut and pulled out the nylon string out of my finger myself a week later when it was loose.

Dr. Cunningham is retired now after, presumably, millions of stitches he did as a surgeon... A few years ago, he and Mrs. C downsized to tasteful smaller home. Their kids are all out on their own as successful adults with busy designer lives.

Sometimes I wonder if Dr. Cunningham remembers the time he gave my finger a single expert single stitch (doubt it). But I do ponder it on occasion – especially when I slice some onions... I do that much more carefully now.

Here are a few pictures of our new 5 month old puppy "Lady". We got her last month Dec 2011. She is a black and tan King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. A popular, friendly breed, Cavs make great pets. She is very sweet and we think she is quite adorable. She is getting along fine with our other dog Kiki the Basenji. She is all kisses, cuddles and a little ball of energy with the occasional mistaken piddle on the wood floor (oops!).

Have you been up in a hot air balloon? A balloon accident in Carterton, NZ 7-Jan-2012 took the lives of 11 people. Witnesses heard screams from passengers as a fire broke out when the balloon hit some power lines.

Michael Daly at Stuff reports Balloon disaster worst air tragedy since Erebus even though "Ballooning was a safe sport and New Zealand had one of the best safety records in the world."

From Stuff.co.nz, a "36-year-old Carterton farmer was milking a herd of cows on a Somerset Rd farm when he saw the balloon.

He had seen it many times before, but this time it was different. The balloon's height was fluctuating.

Moments later, about 7.25am on Saturday, all hell broke loose.

"It hit these powerlines and it just shorted out and we lost power to the cowshed and it burst into flames," Mr Searle said yesterday describing the crash which killed 11 people.

"The noise from the screams was like something from a movie. It was just crazy.

"It was just screams of horror. I've never ever heard screams like it before. It was from the support crew on the ground and from people in the basket.

"It [the balloon] was on fire, it started going higher with a powerline attached to the top of the basket and it was stretching the wire.

"As the balloon started to go up one guy leapt out. And then about 20 seconds later another one jumped out. I think it was a lady.

"The screaming and the noise ... It was just unreal."

The balloon continued to rise until it snapped the power lines."

"In the latest development of the MF Global bankruptcy, it has been revealed that regulators are thought to be about to give differing accounts referring to the timings of their initial concerns regarding the state of the broker-dealer which collapsed at the end of October.

At the time of the company’s downfall, it is estimated that $1.2bn of customers’ money was unaccounted for.

The Chief Executive of CME Group, the futures exchange operator responsible for the supervision of MF Global’s handling of customer accounts, Terry Duffy, said that the company appeared to be in “full compliance” with ring-fencing requirements for customer money only one day previous to when a shortfall of $900m was discovered, according to the Financial Times (FT).

The FT reported that Dennis Cardoza, a California Democrat on the House agriculture committee, said: “Wall Street cannot just shrug this off because it affects the foundations of the very core of their business.” He added: “If investors lose confidence, where will they turn to?”

Regulators will be questioned by lawmakers and MF Global customers will also testify referring to concerns on how markets in the future will be monitored and policed.

According to the FT, John Fletcher, the general manager of Central Missouri Agri-Service, said: “We have believed for decades that risk to segregated customer funds held by members of the clearinghouse was virtually zero.” He added: “Now, we know that was not the case.”

2012 greetings to you and yours! So, um, really, 2011 was kind of a shite year, wasn't it?

For us: My husband's father passed. A few months later the family dog, too. Mum was left in a big house all alone (bummer). She got a bit lonely so has a new puppy now and we (and her daughters) are over there often. She is OK after a tough year of loss.

My 2011 was full of on again off again abdominal pain (stink) - some of the year is a bit hazy to me lost in a battle of overcoming pain. Sorry if I missed anything big... You can always read good stuff on the various sites I link to... I can't keep up with everything now can I?! :)

The world had a tough 2011 around the globe - the scariest stuff: so many Arab countries in turmoil and the horror of Islam on the rise there. In NZ, Christchurch had killer earthquakes. Japan had a devastating Tsunami in a shocking display of earth's brute force. In man caused disasters, Obummer and his communist crew continue to raid the USA treasury (hello, huge MF global crisis anyone?!?!), Holder's illegal gun running to Mexico: killed hundreds - while media and Democrats don't care, but fully support Occu-pooper Soros supported paid idiots and continue ignoring patriot T.E.A. partiers. Hey, did you notice media stopped bashing Sarah Palin when she announced she would not run for POTUS? Old media next turned their venom against the Hermain Cain train and derailed it quite well, didn't they... At least alternative media continues to grow and expose the truth - hey that Weiner guy was fully exposed for being a big pervert, wasn't he? Some sweeet vindication served up by alternative media!

Anyway, on a happier note for 2011 for me, despite it all we managed to have some good fun in 2011. We were able to travel home to Wilmette Illinois (near Chicago) to visit family and friends. My father came down to NZ and we showed him around Auckland. We travelled down to the Christchurch area. We got 2 new dogs. We've completed some home improvement projects such as updated plumbing, new electric panel for the whole house and insulation replaced in the attic. We got to attend a semi-finals match for the Rugby World Cup 2011. NZ won the final (NZ was happy!) and The Warriors got into their final as well - yes they lost, but had an outstanding season.

Hopefully it will be a good year and the Mayans just ran out of room on their calendar, yes? ;) Let's look at the glass as half full this year, shall we?

In 2009 I pondered how it is weird to experience warm weather at Christmas. After 4 years of living in NZ, it is still weird. Christmas is a Christian holiday combined with the pagan winter festival plus Santa and Reindeer... Santa wears a wool suit. He lives at the North Pole. His sleigh is made for snow. Lights decorate houses in winter where its dark at 5pm.

In 2010 I shared a few negative experiences I've had this time of year.

For 2011? Well, the only 'bad' is I haven't managed to send anything to family except flowers to arrive at my mother's in Glenview, Illinois USA. We managed to get our NZ presents (aka known as "pressies") for all family members here so we'll wrap all those today - and head to mum's for lunch tomorrow Christmas day.

Growing up in Wilmette in a Catholic family, we used to go to church every Sunday. On Christmas sometimes we'd attend midnight mass Saturday night. Last time I went to midnight mass was before I was married probably 1998 or 1999, I was living in an apartment and was supposed to meet a sister and my mother there. Neither showed up. They were tired. My NZ family aren't church goers, yet they are very spiritual and reverent people in their lives, in loving and caring towards each other and other people they know. Their kindness and love help me live my life here away from my Illinois roots.

Do you need to go to church to be spiritual? No.

This year I am happy to be able to share a Christmas holiday with NZ loved ones. Some of us will be bringing our pets to mum's (dogs!). There are 3 puppies and 2 adult dogs so 5 wee doggies will be added to the fun at mum's with around 20 adults and one 3 year old.

Tomorrow should shape up to be a wonderful day of food, family, puppies, pressies and the warm summer NZ sunshine...

I hope you all get to share some food, prayer, joy and happiness wherever you are this year - Merry Christmas everyone!

Who are the "poor" in America and how "bad" off are they really? Not bad off at all actually. The whole "blame the rich" meme being fostered by communist-dems also known as "class warfare" is to blame those "evil, facist, racist" Republicans (see video!) and RICH people who keep the poor 'down'. Down on the plantation? That is where communist-dems WANT the populace. They give people free stuff to get them to keep voting them into power. I'm not saying anything new. You know this already - is is obvious, isn't it?

Rush Limbaugh mentions this week "Percentage of poor US how does which have various amenities: Refrigerator, 99%. Television, 97%. Stove and oven, 97%. Microwave, 82%." The list goes on. That's what it looks like. It's a chart. So Koko will put it up and you'll have a chance to take a look at it, 'cause I had the call and guy made a great point. More and more people are told -- more and more middle-class people are told -- they are living in poverty, and furthermore they're told that the rich are the reason; the rich are responsible. Of course, the typical poor family could have a host of modern conveniences and still live in dilapidated, overcrowded housing. However, data from other government surveys show that this is not the case.[19] Poor Americans are well housed and rarely overcrowded.[20] In fact, the houses and apartments of America’s poor are quite spacious by international standards. The typical poor American has considerably more living space than does the average European.[21]

Forty-three percent of all poor households own their own homes. The average home owned by persons classified as poor by the Census Bureau is a three-bedroom house with one-and-a-half baths, a garage, and a porch or patio.[22]

Nearly all of the houses and apartments of the poor are in good condition. According to the government’s data, only one in 10 has moderate physical problems. Only 2 percent of poor domiciles have “severe” physical problems, the most common of which is sharing a bathroom with another household living in the building.[23]

Food Shortages, Nutrition, and Poverty

It is possible that most poor households could be well housed and have many modern conveniences but still face chronic food shortages and undernutrition. Poor families might have microwaves but a limited and sporadic supply of food to put in the microwave. Government surveys show that this is not the case for the overwhelming majority of poor families.

On average, the poor are well nourished. The average consumption of protein, vitamins, and minerals is virtually the same for poor and middle-class children. In most cases, it is well above recommended norms. Poor children actually consume more meat than higher-income children consume, and their protein intake averages 100 percent above recommended levels. In fact, most poor children are super-nourished and grow up to be, on average, one inch taller and 10 pounds heavier than the GIs who stormed the beaches of Normandy in World War II.[24]

However, even though the poor, in general, have an ample food supply, some do suffer from temporary food shortages. For example, a poor household with an adequate long-term food supply might need temporarily to cut back meals, eat cheap food, or go without if cash and food stamps run out at the end of the month.

Still, government data show that most poor households do not suffer even from temporary food shortages. As Chart 7 shows, 92.5 percent of poor households assert that they always had “enough food to eat” during the previous four months, although 26 percent of these did not always have the foods that they would have preferred. Some 6 percent of poor households state that they “sometimes” did not have enough food, and 1.5 percent say they “often” did not have enough food.[25]

The bottom line is that, although a small portion of poor households report temporary food shortages, the overwhelming majority of poor households report that they consistently have enough food to eat."

"I understand that sometimes, people are destitute. They need help, and they accept help from the state in order to feed their families. This is fine. It happens. I’m not against temporary aid helping those who truly need it. What I saw at Wal-Mart, however, was not temporary aid. I witnessed generations of families all relying on the state to buy food and other items. I literally witnessed small children asking their mothers if they could borrow their EBT cards. I once had a man show me his welfare card for an ID to buy alcohol. The man was from Massachusetts. Governor Michael Dukakis’ signature was on his welfare card. Dukakis’ last gubernatorial term ended in January of 1991. I was born in June of 1991. The man had been on welfare my entire life. That’s not how welfare was intended, but sadly, it is what it has become."

in this diagram, my internal abdominal oblique and tendionouse inscriptions both seem to hurt?

I have had abdominal pain on and off for 2 years. After various tests by socialized medicine, I have not been given a definitive idea of what the problem might be.

Permanent lower abdominal cramps

Two years ago the pain started like monthly female period cramps (these are great fun, just ask your girlfriend, wife or mother!) which lasted over a month. I started taking lots of ibuprofen. Cramps seem to worsen.

Ultrasound

Went for ultrasound to check female parts and appointment with intestinal specialist. All OK on the ultrasound. Cramps really bad one morning around 3am so went to emergency clinic. African doctor said no more ibuprofen, I was making issues worse. Switched to panadol (tylenol) which is paracetamol. Had to take 4-5 days a week sometimes 8-9 pills a day. My local doctor recommends I see a dietician and agrees with intestinal specialist I should get a colonoscopy. Local blood tests confirm very low iron and low iron absorption. I'm given couple months worth of doses of codeine for bad pain. I take it periodically when needed.

Dietician

About 8-9 months ago, I started seeing a dietician. I give up coffee, caffeine, soda / fizzy drink and incorporate more fiber and iron into my diet. This seems to help a bit. Yet, periodic cramping pain continues.

Colonoscopy

It took about 1 year to get a colonscopy. I was put on the waiting list Oct-2010 and had the procedure end of Sep-2011. Minor divurticulitus found, nothing major and no cancer or anything. Surgeon gives me prescription for couple months of fiber drink.

New, severe pain

Sunday morning 27-Nov-11 I awoke about 3:00am with a new, sharper abdominal pain near the appendix area and shooting upwards. Felt like a knife inside me. I took some codeine and panadol. I went to work Monday but wasn't too happy. Tuesday I stay home and try to self medicate some more. Pain is intensifying.

30-Nov-11 in hospital

Wed 30-Nov-11 I go to my doctor first thing. He worries about my appendix. He sends me to hospital. My husband leaves work to drive me there. I'm given some intra-venous pain meds (morphine?) and try to explain my symptoms to a couple of different doctors.

X-ray

Later in afternoon at hospital, they Xray my abdomen but apparently not much found. I send husband home. It hurts to stand up or walk, but mostly ok if I just lay still. I stay overnight. No dinner or breakfast but am given more pain medications. Next morning head of surgical and team of doctors assess me. He recommends CT scan of my abdomen. They don't think appendix - my symptoms are different.

CT scan

Next day I get a CT scan at 1pm. I'm allowed to eat so have some dinner. Yum: hospital food. One of the surgeons who had assessed me yesterday (twice), came by with CT results around 6pm. He says he doesn't see any divirticulitis, anything wrong with intestines or any other organs. CT is a "snapshot" but it is inconclusive. He says I can go home if I'm feeling OK. He thinks it might just be an issue with an internal abdominal muscle. He advises it will either get better on its own by just relaxing for a week - but if pain worsens, I have to go back to hospital. I get a prescription about 8pm for about a week's worth "tramadol".

On Tramadol

"Tramadol - is a synthetic opioid analgesic indicated for moderate-moderately severe pain. Tramadol, like all opioids, does produce "morphine-like" effects including analgesia, euphoria, anxiolysis (reduced anxiety), dizziness, somnolence, nausea/vomiting, constipation, and sweating. However, tramadol causes significantly less respiratory depression than morphine. In contrast to morphine, tramadol has not been shown to cause histamine release. At therapeutic doses, tramadol has no clinically significant effect on heart rate."

Lingering pain

So after I got home from hospital, I stayed home that Friday and basically was in bed for 4 days. I took Tramadol here and there and have been taking a dose of Tramadol nightly. I have one more dose left. Tues night, I did not take any and Wed I woke up with lingering pain - so took another day off work and laid in bed all day. So what is the end to this story? I still don't know. Today is Thu 15-Dec-11.

No diagnosis yet

Two years later... and I still have periodic abdominal pain. It is slightly better with changes to diet - and with a week's worth of rest and tramadol. However, if I don't eat for a day or two? I still have some pain. I've been ultra-sounded, x-ray-ed and CT-ed. I feel slightly better? Sorta... I can walk around and I'm at work today - will see how long I can sit without pain. I just took some more panadol.

Hopefully my liver won't shrivel up from too much panadol.

My opinion of socialized medicine? Well, it seems OK so far but I still have some pain and no definitive diagnosis yet. This is frustrating. I wonder if Chicago doctors would have figured this out by now... I'll never know I guess... *sigh*, so if I keel over and die, it was nice blogging with you. Wish me luck...

The catastrophic $850 billion stimulus. $700,000 to develop a robot that tells jokes. $3.4 million for an underground tunnel for turtles to cross the road in Florida. $1 million to help smokers kick the habit by giving them Blackberry “smartphones.” $2.6 million for Chinese prostitutes in China to drink responsibly. Lying to Americans by claiming the money was going to “shovel-ready jobs” — and then joking about the falsehood. Lying by hiding the amounts transferred to favored liberal projects unrelated to job growth or economic stimulation.
3. Chronically high, persistent unemployment — His own staff said that he would bring it under 8% ; yet it remains over 9% thirty months into his one term, with real unemployment actually exceeding 15% as huge numbers of unemployed Americans withdraw from searching hopelessly for jobs. Lying about a Summer of Recovery (2010).
4. Gas prices — Now exceeding $4.50 a gallon in California, while he bars exploration in ANWR, restricts licenses to explore along the Atlantic coast or in the Gulf, but exports American dollars to help Brazil explore for oil in the Gulf even as Obama promises that America then will buy that oil from Brazil. (See also #82.)
5. Failure to pass a budget. The abject failure by the Chief Executive to get any kind of budget adopted for 2010.
6. Multi-trillion debt free-fall. Turning the disastrous Bush deficits into a multi-trillion-dollar economic free-fall, now leaving the nation with a debt exceeding $14.3 trillion . . . and pressing for authorization to increase the free-fall. His own latest mad deficit proposal was demolished in a House vote 97-318, as his own Democrats abandoned him in droves.
7. The seizure of GM and Chrysler. The illegal transfer of bondholder wealth to unions, imposing his views on parts of the American auto industry, artificially trying to jump-start his favored companies with “Cash for Clunkers,” only to find that American tax dollars were used instead by people buying preferred Japanese cars to acquire them cheaper while being forced to destroy throughly sound used cars.
8. Dodd-Frank.
9. Unremitting hostility to Israel. Destroying the Mideast process by imposing unilateral burdens on Israel, forcing Israel to cease construction of Jewish homes, even in Jerusalem, thus compelling Abbas to harden several positions, all while publicly snubbing Prime Minister Netanyahu in the basement of the White House (the first visit) and trying to snub him on the second visit with a horrible policy speech as Netanyahu was flying en route to America.
10. Failure to support Iran’s Green Revolution. A complete silence and abandonment of leadership when Iranians risked their lives for freedom, while backing the Moslem Brotherhood uprising in Egypt.
11. Failure to support the Syrian people’s revolution against Assad. Utter failure to lead until it was impossible to overlook the massacres by a dictator who actively finances and supports Iran and Hezbollah, America’s sworn enemies in Iraq and South Lebanon.
12. The Libyan Fiasco. Entering Libya while failing to consult Congress. No sense of whether we are supporting people just as bad as Qaddafi. Remaining in the war more than 90 days without obtaining Congressional approval. Lying about violating the War Powers Act by claiming there are no “hostilities” in Libya.
13. The Gulf oil disaster. Bumbling in handling the Gulf oil disaster — refusing aid from countries with oil-cleaning vessels, failing to accept offers of boom to corral the spill, bringing in underwater filmmaker James Cameron as an expert.
14. Closing down oil exploration. The unnecessary moritorium on permitting oil exploration in the aftermath of the Gulf oil disaster, contributing to a massive explosion of oil prices, even leading a federal court to overturn him.
15. EPA interference. The shutdown of Shell’s Arctic oil exploration by EPA
16. Cap-and-Trade Fiasco. The push in Congress for a disastrous “cap-and-trade” plan that would stymie the coal, electric, and natural gas industries, while enormously raising Americans’ home fuel prices, leading even his own party’s U.S. Senator from West Virginia to film a TV promise to voters that he will shoot the proposal full of holes.
17. Use of federal agencies to bypass Congressional oversight. The attempt, after Congress refused to adopt his cap-and-trade nonsense, to bypass Congressional opposition and impose cap-and-trade undemocratically via the EPA.
18. Use of FCC initially to restrict free speech. The push for unconstitutional restrictions on free speech on his political enemies on Talk Radio while assuring protections for unions to spend money on campaigns via The Disclose Act.
19. The Disclose Act and cherry-picking. The attempt to unconstitutionally impose The Disclose Act on his political opponents but not unions via Executive Order.
20. Czars to bypass Congressional oversight. The use of unaccountable “czars” who effectively run huge segments of the American Government without being accountable to Congress and who are protected from Congressional subpoena power.
21. Boorish shaming of Supreme Court justices. The embarrassing and arrogant verbal assault on the Supreme Court while Court Justices courteously attended the first State of the Union address, sitting in front of him, leading most to boycott the subsequent State of Union addresses.
22. Boorish attempt to shame Paul Ryan. The similarly embarrassing and arrogant verbal assault on Rep. Paul Ryan when addressing the federal budget, with Ryan having been invited personally by Obama to attend the speech and sit in front of him.
23. Boorish attempt to shame John McCain. The insulting, embarrassing, and arrogant gloating at John McCain during the televised sham negotiation over Obamacare, when he responded to McCain not substantively but by saying that Obama had won and McCain had lost the election — so there!
24. Refusal to prosecute Black Panthers for Voter Intimidation. Obama’s and Attorney-General Eric Holder’s politicization of the Department of Justice, including refusing to prosecute the Black Panther voter-intimidation case in Philadelphia.

32. FTAs with allies. Failure to push for quick ratification of free trade agreements with Columbia, Panama and South Korea.

35. Radicalizing the NLRB outside Congressional purview. Appointing [Harold] Craig Becker, a radical unionist, to the NLRB through a recess appointment that otherwise never would have passed Congress.
36. Radicalizing FCC outside Congressional purview. Appointing FCC commissioners who are pursuing “net neutrality” without Congressional authorization.
37. Ecology gone wild in California. Wiping out much of the agricultural economy of California’s Central Valley by restricting full water deliveries to protect a small Delta Smelt fish

40. Napolitano out of touch. The shameful failure of Obama’s Homeland Security chief, Janet Napolitano, to appreciate the Obama Administration’s security failures in the face of the near-catastrophe of the “underwear bomber” in the skies over Detroit, as she insisted “the system worked.”
41. Student loans. Government takeover of the student loan program
42. Border security. Cancellation of the “virtual border fence” project with no replacement, while deploying National Guard troops to do paper work at desk jobs and provide office assistance rather than stand armed along the border.
43. The “Beer Summit.” In the aftermath of wrongly castigating and erroneously pre-judging fault regarding the Cambridge Police Department, tying up the country with a foolish spectacle on the White House lawn.
44. Immigration and Arizona. The Department of Justice’s attack on Arizona for that state’s exercise of its sovereign legislative authority on the issue of citizen identification rules. Failure of his own federal government to execute the law on immigration.
45. The attack on Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker. Attacking the Wisconsin governor and his state legislature for exercising their sovereign legislative authority on public employment issues, while Obama failed to acknowledge that the new Wisconsin rules are comparable to those that always have applied to federal employees.

It’s easy to see why Democrats from the top down supported this movement. Obama praised the Occupants’ courage for marching against the excesses of Wall Street, and Pelosi all but organized a prayer vigil. But hold on Hank Johnson, as Guam may have finally tipped over—Democrats may be regaining their sanity in all this.

Democrats will allow Occupants to steal, molest, pillage, harass cops, disrupt business, and reject the homeless, but they draw the line at their voters killing each other.[2] So with the recent public safety issues, it is said that the Democrats are distancing themselves from the Occupants."

Oct 14, I was out of town for a week then back Oct 23 showing my dad around Auckland city, the Waitakere rain forests and beaches for a week... However, this week I haven't felt much like blogging. Just feel like walking along the beach and relaxing.

Politics can be boring, eh? However, these people rule our lives. They must be held to account...

NZ has their 3 year elections this month. The 2 major parties are National (center-left-ish) and Labour (far-left-ish). Labour is way down in the polls. Under the MMP system Labour could only 'win' if National doesn't get enough votes and agreements with the other smaller parties to form a coalition.

National might get enough votes to win on their own and not need any smaller parties. I suppose that would be OK. It would be better if National didn't have to cow-tow to minor parties - say the race based Maori party. National has to make weird racially motivated "pay us" and "give us stuff" concessions to Maoris for them to agree to support policies National wants. Its weird and gives way too much power to the wee and wrong racial parties.

Yep, I'd be fine if National was voted in to rule alone without any minor parties. National needs to be held to account for their own policies. The current system, MMP, is just dumb. There is a referendum for NZ to have their say yea or nay to MMP. Then, they'll (politicians) will "think about it" and possibly change the political system from MMP to something else. Could be interesting I suppose. Maybe...

For American politics, the knives are out now for Herman Cain about some supposed "scandal" which happened 10 years ago. The establishment and the left do not want a conservative black man in the White House. He cannot leave the "all blacks should be in the Democratic plantation" meme. How dare he be independent, a conservative and a successful leader and business owner. How dare he. Even conservatives are attacking him saying he doesn't have enough foreign policy experience (or some rot). What, did Obumbles the magic dragon have oh-so-much experience with ANYTHING? America's standing in the world and foreign relations have magically healed under Obambam? HARDLY...

For pete's sake, America needs a conservative POTUS. If not in 2012, we'll work towards 2016. In 2012 America should vote conservatives across the USA in federal and state positions and make Republicans the majority in the senate and house of representatives. Thus, even if Obomination is re-selected illegally (might not get on Arizona ballot this time around: Sheriff Joe insists on validating birth records!), a majority of Republicans should be elected to stop the rise of communism-statism otherwise known as Democrats. Perhaps...

We'll see. Dunno. America will get the politicians it deserves. If people get engaged, informed and involved, Americans will turn away from the collectivist thinking and illegal fiats being imposed on it - and return to being a Republic.

But... America will have to want it.

I've watched and read a bit, in complete disgust and dismay, about how the far leftist USA media fawn over the fake, Soros sponsored paid occupy "protestors" in various places across the states.

The only occupation that concerns me is the communist-leftists squatting in the people's white house in Washington. They must be expelled. Voting in 2012 is crucial to do just that.

So, while I will continue to ignore the ignorant stupidity the best I can, Robin of Berkeley at AT sums it all up the best in her recent Anatomy of an Occupation, a tidbit:

"In the service of shedding some light on our current occupiers, I offer the following observations:
Monkey see, monkey do: Leftists follow the leader. Since most progressives believe the anti-capitalist nonsense, the majority will follow in lock step. In liberal areas, there is groupthink -- cult-like behavior, where people must chant the same old tired mantras. To step out of line will undoubtedly bring social condemnation and shunning.

Indoctrination: While I thought I was an independent thinker, it never occurred to me to look outside the moveon.org box. All of my media was leftist; the so-called independent bookstores (the ones that celebrate "Banned Books Week") ban conservative books. Of course, leftists are badly misguided about what a revolution actually entails. They weren't told, for instance, that Che Guevara, whose handsome face is emblazoned on their fashionable t-shirts, was actually a psychotic killer. Che got such a thrill from watching executions that he had a picture window installed in his office, and had the butchery conducted below.

And then there's another historical fact that eludes our gullible revolutionaries. After a revolution, the activists and militants themselves often get offed. Of course this would be the case; why would the regime want troublemakers and insurrectionaries in the populace?"

obligatory NZ Rugby World Cup post

The Rugby World Cup here in NZ has been going on a few weeks now. The pool games are finished and the quater finals started this weekend. We went to the match last night between France and England. We took a 15 minute train ride to Morningside station and walked 5 minutes to the park. Above is the entrance we went in.

The view we had was very good way up high in the nose bleed section. It was a great atmosphere and our section was full to capacity with many fans sporting face paint, wigs, French hats, English flag capes or team colored shirts or jackets. We had a good hour to kill before the game started so we walked down many stairs (maybe 50 or so?) back to ground level to get french fries (chips) and diet cokes and hiked back up to our seats at the top of the stadium. Stair master done for today? Check.

At one point, looked like a small rain cloud was heading our way and we spotted some rainbows, but we were spared. Weather was cool and clear for the game.

Above is when anthems were just about to be sung to start the game off. A gentleman from Kent, south England, wore a South African jacket on, a purple and red Scottish kilt and a "anyone but England" t-shirt. He and his wife had rented a camper van and were traveling NZ for their first visit and had gone to a few rugby games thus far. They both sported red, blue and white stripes face paint - to support France. An English girl and her French boyfriend sat near us and took turns clapping for sides. Mr. from-England-but-supporting-France told us the French supporters were chanting "Allez le Blue" meaning "Go the Blue" so we chanted along when appropriate.

The English supporters near us liked to sing "swing loooooow, sweet chariot, comin' for to take us hooooome". Every 5 minutes or so, some random English bloke would stand up, face the crowd and start everyone off with "swing LOOOOOOOW, sweet ..." and the crowd would join in for a few words then stop. Same thing again later but usually started by another random, slightly inebriated Englishman.

The crowd managed to do 'the wave' a couple times all the way around the park when the game was taking a slight boring tack for a few minutes.

England looked bit slow moving during most of the game. Big strong blokes who couldn't seem to run very fast nor get too many passes off to keep the ball moving forward. They dropped the ball at some crucial times stopping their momentum. France, on the other hand, played like they were on fire. They ran faster, passed faster and the game was more exciting when they had the ball which appeared to be most of the game. Scoreless for a good 10 minutes or so, France got a penalty so they kicked to start off with 3 points on the board to England's 0. Then again, France 6, England 0. At this point individuals near us yelled "get it together England..." or "c'mon Paddy" (hey, wrong team??) and we even heard a kiwi yell "smash 'em bro!"... Everyone was hoping England would rise up to the French challenge.

But alas, no, England rallied a bit in the second half but final score was 19-12 with France the winner.

We left with a few minutes left to play, climbed down a bizillon stairs, walked the 5 minutes back to the train which left a few minutes after we boarded. For an 8:30am game, we got home about 10:45pm after thoroughly enjoying the excitement and crowd at the Rugby World Cup. Good job boys and congratulations to France, oui oui!

This news makes me sad, but I don't blame her. There is a huge pile of stinky corruption in Washington to clean up. The next potus has LOT of work to do. Perhaps Sarah could be tapped as the next Secretary of Energy.

I feel really sorry for America and that feeling hasn't waned since the loser-in-chief, the false usurper was placed illegally into the people's White House.

Conservatism needs to grow and spread to even begin to help clean America. Some say 'return to god' but really all that is needed is a 'return to morality'. The left has no morals, no sense, no plan except their goal of absolute power.

The spin continues in the Gunwalker story. Late last Friday, Washington provided some documents requested by Issa, but not all documents. The spin for that one from CBS news: "The White House counsel who produced the documents stated that some records were not included because of "significant confidentiality interests."

The White House has said Gunwalker was just a sting operation which was botched. That is a lie.

A letter found "provides startling proof that the Federal government did not merely "lose track" of weapons purchased by "straw buyers" under surveillance by the ATF and destined for the Mexican drug cartels."

From Examiner, A Letter implicates ATF in committing straw purchases for Gunwalker: "According one source close to the Issa committee and knowledgeable of its workings, this revelation "puts a stake in the heart of the 'botched sting operation' lie." He continued, "There never was any 'sting,' there was only a deliberate effort to provide weapons to the DTO's (Drug Trafficking Organizations)." He added, "this was one hundred percent us -- our money, our guy, our (gun)walking."

This source also provided context and explanation of how the letter came to exist in the first place."

CBS also has ATF Manager says he shared Fast and Furious Info with White House: "At a lengthy hearing on ATF's controversial gunwalking operation today, a key ATF manager told Congress he discussed the case with a White House National Security staffer as early as September 2010. The communications were between ATF Special Agent in Charge of the Phoenix office, Bill Newell, and White House National Security Director for North America Kevin O'Reilly. Newell said the two are longtime friends. The content of what Newell shared with O'Reilly is unclear and wasn't fully explored at the hearing.

It's the first time anyone has publicly stated that a White House official had any familiarity with ATF's operation Fast and Furious, which allowed thousands of weapons to fall into the hands of suspected traffickers for Mexican drug cartels in an attempt to gain intelligence. It's unknown as to whether O'Reilly shared information with anybody else at the White House."

Perhaps the "unknown" is in the WITHHELD DOCUMENTS!

Hey media, this story is no biggie, eh? Just that ATF Walked Guns Directly to Cartel Using Taxpayer Dollars from Pajamas and: "There was never any method to track the firearms provided to the cartels. The cartel leaders that were the alleged target of the investigation never would have been involved in such low-level work as weapons procurement, an allegation on par with claiming they can ensnare a Fortune 500 CEO for the purchase of toner for printers. And of course, the U.S. government does not have the authority to arrest suspects across an international border in Mexico. The justification for the operation is laughable even as a hastily trumped-up cover story. Those who were a part of the conspiracy felt they had political cover at the highest level of government, and didn’t believe they needed but the thinnest of veneers of a cover story for their actions, which have led to weapons being recovered at the scenes of over 200 murders in Mexico and to the shooting of three U.S. federal agents."

Kathleen Millar at Foreign Policy Association has smelled the spin for months and wants the media late comers to ask some questions like:

"Why were field agents running the op told by their supervisors NOT to interdict?
Why were they ordered by their supervisors to let the guns walk?
Because those were the orders given to their supervisors by their bosses. And the buck stops…where?"

Ms. Millar's excellent article points out "The challenge now, for the media, and certainly for Congress, is to address the real questions, to clarify the dangers inherent in Fast and Furious—especially the threat to the rule of law—and to step up to the possible consequences of a genuine, no-holds-barred investigation into a US government operation that triggered the provision of lethal weapons to criminal actors in Mexico. Weapons used to murder US citizens. We know how Fast and Furious worked. Now it’s time to ask ‘who’ and ‘why.’

Everyone has a dog in this fight. The press, the government, the White House, Congress, the House Oversight Committee. Republicans. Democrats. US gun dealers. The pro-gun lobby. The anti-gun contingent. US banks with big Mexican accounts. US corporations riding high with NAFTA. The government of Mexico. Mexico’s cartels."

Ms. Millar recommends "Find an upright, do-right US prosecutor (a Spanish-speaker) willing to leave a comfortable berth in the private sector to take a job he’s smart enough to know may end his career, and let that dog hunt."

All misjudged the depth of public resentment, all compounded the original breach of faith, and all failed miserably.

Jo Nova reports The Carbon Tax is so bad, people are asking if this is treason - "People are using words like “sickening”, “shocking” and describing Gillard’s actions as “vindictive” and a “treacherous spoiler”, and using the word treason. There’s a plea: “God help us!”

muslims hate dogs

Why do muslims hate dogs? I have no idea. Well who cares, they are all inbred idiots anyway. This post isn't about muzzies though. Its about saying goodbye to a family friend named Bella.

Above is one of the last pictures I have of my dog Kiki (black & white) and mum's dog Bella (Shepard mix). We were giving them biscuit treats and trying to take photos and Kiki is so fast I only got the backsides because she kept turning around looking for the next treat. Oh well... You can see a bit of grey on Bella's face. This picture was taken last month.

Last weekend Bella had to be put down. She had stomach cancer. She was diagnosed last Thursday after not eating for over a week and only vomiting and losing weight rapidly. Thursday's ultra sound showed 2 huge masses taking up the entire space of her stomach. She was given a prognosis of 5 days to live. Thursday night was OK as mum spent the night near her on the floor with cushions. Bella wouldn't go down stairs any more. Friday night was bad. Bella would drink water then vomit it up. Blood started coming out her rectum. Saturday Bella was walking around a bit managing to get outside into the garden. She laid down in the shade.

Deb and her daughter had stayed overnite Friday with mum helping cleanup vomit and blood. Mum decided Saturday morning it was time. Mum realized Bella was suffering and she was not going to recover. It was time to mercifully end her life. It is part of pet ownership. Our local vet, Doctor Steve, will come out to your house for the euthanasia service. He arrived about 2:15pm.

On a sunny afternoon, Bella had her family around her petting her and stroking her while she peacefully laid in the garden. With the shot, Bella went to sleep ... for the last time. We hugged each other and told her we'd miss her and what a great dog she was. I guess it was an impromptu funeral. We helped Dr. Steve put her in a plastic bag in his car trunk and said goodbye. Bella will be cremated and the ashes will be returned to mum in a rimu wood box with a plaque on it.

Bella is now with our dog Sheela in doggie heaven. Mum's husband of 53 years who we lost a couple months ago is with them... and there is an endless supply of treats.

Goodbye Bella... you were a great guard dog for mum who never bit or hurt anyone. You never tolerated any minor cat disagreements. You were a pacifist and loving friend. You will be missed.

The media and the Obama Administration remain wired into a purely “Blame Israel” mode. One story after another insists that the main obstacle to peace is a few private Israeli homes going up in Jerusalem or Judea and Samaria. It is as if Hamas’ control of Gaza doesn’t exist for them. The elephant in the room armed with rockets and suicide bombers, controlling all of Gaza, might as well be a non-issue, as far as they’re concerned. No one in the media asks when was the last time Abbas won an election. A minor issue that goes to the minor question of whether Abbas is even actually empowered to reach any binding agreements.

It might be 2011, but it might as well be 1996 or 2003 or any year in between. Except that the PLO’s power is about done. The negotiations don’t matter. Abbas will do his best to see that they fail, because it’s the only way he can survive his own people. And he needs to have the blame for the failure fall on Israel, because it’s the only way he can hang on to US and European support. As usual, nothing Israel can do will work, and whatever it does, it will get the blame. The media will go on chattering about settlements, as if that were the endgame here.

Statehood is a fiction that will move more money into the pockets of the Fatah elite, but it’s also a double-edged sword. Fatah’s only defense against a Hamas takeover is that it can extract territory through negotiations—something Hamas cannot do because it refuses to negotiate for anything but temporary truces. A unilateral statehood declaration, if taken seriously, would also mean the end of negotiations. That’s something Abbas can’t afford because then his usefulness to Hamas is at an end.

Abbas needs Israel to keep from being overrun by Hamas, but he needs Hamas to keep his image as the moderate alternative to those crazy guys in Gaza. The balancing act has drawn billions in foreign aid, but infuriated everyone. Now Abbas is playing an even more dangerous game, going for broke to shake down Israel and the world into giving him some breathing room. It’s a desperate move, but it may also work in the short term. In the long term though, the whole shebang is still doomed.

The Palestinian Authority is not a government, it’s a terrorist organization in suits and ties. It has shown that it is not self-supporting and not capable of running anything besides a rocket launcher. It existed only as long as it was useful to someone.

The PLO began life because it was useful to the Syrians and Egyptians. When they no longer wanted it, it was still useful to the USSR. When the USSR no longer wanted it, it became useful to America. But now it’s running out of sponsors.

The United States has been funding the Palestinian Authority since 1992 and it has gotten nothing for it, and while the foreign policy establishment insists on blaming Israel for that, there’s only so long that game can go as well. The Bush Administration dumped Arafat and Abbas knows that sooner or later his turn will come. With no more options, no ability to reach a final status agreement and Western patrons whose foreign aid budgets will start tightening in the face of the bankruptcy, he is playing his only remaining card.

Either way the Palestinian myth is on the verge of flickering out. Hamas may talk about Palestinian rights, but it has even less interest in them than the PLO did. Hamas was spawned by the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood. Its goal is an Islamic state in Egypt and Gaza, and then all of Israel. It has replaced the Pan-Arabism of a Shukairy with a Pan-Islamism, that it meant to lead to a Global Caliphate. The leaders of Hamas are no less corrupt than Arafat’s cronies were, but it will take longer for the average Israeli Arab to figure that out." READ THE REST HERE

Sirius - the only K9 lost at 9/11/01

2 months after 9/11/01 - I watched daily news still crying...

Along with America, I was recovering slowly.

On January 25, 2002 a story ripped my heart open again.

They found Sirius at ground zero.

Palin's ACES after 4 years = more tax revenue for Alaska

I have run into strange criticism from Palin-haters recently. They are upset about legislation she passed in 2007 in Alaska called ACES. To these critics, ACES is "horrible" and the "worst" legislation "ever". From what I've read, critics are standing on very wobbly legs and apparently must hate needy people relying on government assistance. (I'll get to that in a sec...)

Regarding why ACES critics are completely wrong, the best round up I found is from March 2011, Whitney Pritcher: part 1 here and part 2 here.

For this post, however, I want you ACES critics simply to think about people in the State of Alaska -> the needy people and those on welfare or any type of government assistance.

For starters, in general, I personally am against able bodied men and women to be on the dole at all. However, incapable, elderly, sick and needy do need a safety net. I have a heart and so do most conservatives. A safety net is currently there for those in need in productive and wealthy societies. However, those who CAN work (doing ANYTHING) - SHOULD work. That said: every state has people dependent on the government to survive.

News flash: state government doesn't produce anything. So where does state government get (most) money? Tax revenues.

This leads me to the big question of today: where does Alaska get its MAJORITY of tax revenue from? Let's go to the source shall we. From the "Oil and Gas Production Tax Status Report to the legislature Alaska Department of Revenue" January 18, 2011:

"The State of Alaska depends heavily on the oil industry, with more than 80% of its unrestricted revenue coming from oil taxes and royalties."

Hey ACES critic, let that sink in for a minute. 80% of unrestricted revenue comes from oil taxes and royalties.

Oil and gas production in Alaska = revenue = taxes. GOT IT? From the same Jan 2011 report:

"State revenues under PPT and ACES exceeded the amount that would have been received under ELF for each of the four fiscal years since implementation of a net profits tax."

The current legislation (ACES) Sarah Palin implemented generates more taxes and revenue for Alaskans compared to its predecessor. Here is a visual:

Alaska's January 2011 report does also say production in 2010 was down a bit, but from April 2010, how were things at Miller Energy? "Miller's CEO, Scott Boruff, has described his company as one of the fastest growing that no one knows about.

Boruff said Wednesday that Obama's new domestic oil strategy opens the door for Miller Energy to secure more drilling permits in Alaska.

"We've got an open door now to drill," Boruff said. "It's exciting."

The company disclosed March 15 that its asset value is more than $492 million, including oil and natural gas reserves valued at $372 million based on oil selling for $61.18 per barrel and gas at $4.75 per million cubic feet.

The company said the increase in asset value is a direct result of the December acquisition of Pacific Energy Resources assets through a Chapter 11 bankruptcy auction in which Miller bought onshore and offshore production facilities, an offshore oil and gas drilling platform, leases on more than 600,000 acres of land and other infrastructure.

The Pacific Energy property had included abandoned production facilities off the coast of California with significant environmental liability that scared away potential investors, according to Miller Energy. Miller was able to buy the Pacific Energy assets when the U.S. Bankruptcy Court separated the California and Alaska properties.

Last week, the company announced third quarter earnings of $271.9 million, or $9.51 per fully diluted share, for the period ending Jan. 31 and revenue of $1.1 million for the period."

Well, good for Miller. Sure sounds like they are doing well... and any tax revenue generated under ACES right NOW will benefit Alaskans...

"Governor Parnell is not the only one with donors who may have a vested interested in changes to ACES and have ties to the corrupt oil taxation processes of the past. Rep. Anna Fairclough’s, who headed up the HB 110 efforts, greatest percentage of 2010 election funding came from energy and natural resource industry including BP and ConoccoPhillips. BP and ConoccoPhillips spoke before the House Resource committee in February to advocate for the proposed changes to ACES. Another proponent of this bill is Rep. Mike Hawker ,who is no friend of Governor Palin and is one of the charter members of the Corrupt B*****s Club (CBC), the name corrupt and boastful legislators gave to themselves because of their embrace of their own corruption. Hawker, in addition to Rep.Chenault, were two legislators who voted for HB 110 and who received tens of thousands in campaign donations from VECO executives. Hawker and Chenault voted for Governor Murkowski’s corruption tainted PPT and against Governor Palin’s ACES. Suffice it to say, the CBC is still kickin’ in Alaska politics, perhaps now with some new inductees.

HB 110, touted by Governor Parnell and supported by a majority of Alaskan House members, does not appropriately address the criticism of ACES’s progressivity, does not deal with the volatility of oil prices, and is likely to reduce state revenue by hundreds of millions of dollars. Beyond that, the proponents of this bill have a history of engaging in crony capitalism, corruption, and unethical behavior. While it is unlikely that Senate version of the bill is unlikely to pass, Governor Parnell supports changes to ACES, and there is the potential for such a bill to be taken up again next year. These are the very things that Governor Palin has fought against her entire political career. Governor Palin has called out the unethical behavior of Alaska GOP chair Randy Ruedrich when she was an oil and gas commissioner. She implemented corruption free ACES project that was passed in a transparent manner without the outside influence of oil companies. She championed the AGIA pipeline project that was negotiated in a transparent manner. She has called out the Obama administration on their pervasive crony capitalism."

"It’s difficult to catalogue all of the problems with this nonsense. For starters, the mission keeps changing. Is the green-energy revolution about energy independence? Or is it about fighting global warming? Or is it about jobs?

For most of the last few years, the White House and its supporters have been saying it’s about all three. But that’s never been true. If we wanted energy independence (and I’m not sure why we would) or if we wanted to reduce our dependence on Middle Eastern oil (a marginally better proposition, given that Canada and often Mexico supply the U.S. with more oil than Saudi Arabia), we would massively expand our domestic drilling for oil and gas and our use of coal or carbon-free nuclear. That would also create lots of jobs that can’t be exported (you can’t drill for American oil in China, but we can, and do, buy lots of Chinese-made solar panels).

As for the windfall in green jobs, that has always been a con job.

For instance, Barack Obama came into office insisting that Spain was beating the U.S. in the rush for green jobs. Never mind that in Spain — where unemployment is now at 21 percent — the green-jobs boom has been a bust."

The Solar wind is expanding magnetized plasma generated by the Sun, which has the effect of decelerating the incoming particles, as well as excluding some of the particles with energies below about 1 GeV. The amount of solar wind is not constant due to changes in solar activity, for instance over its regular eleven-year cycle. Hence the level of modulation varies in anticorrelation with solar activity. Also the Earth's magnetic field deflects some of the cosmic rays, giving rise to the observation that the intensity of cosmic radiation is dependent on latitude, longitude, and azimuth angle. The cosmic flux varies from eastern and western directions due to the polarity of the Earth's geomagnetic field and the positive charge dominance in primary cosmic rays. (This is called the "east-west effect"). The cosmic-ray intensity at the Equator is lower than at the poles as the geomagnetic cutoff value is greatest at the equator. This is because charged particles tend to move in the direction of field lines and not across them, so that they are concentrated in the polar regions (where field lines are closest together). This is the reason the auroras occur at the poles, since the field lines curve down towards the Earth’s surface there. Finally, the longitude dependence arises from the fact that the geomagnetic dipole axis is not parallel to the Earth's rotation axis."

While they come from all directions in space, and the origination of many of these cosmic rays is unknown, they has recently been shown that a larger percentage emanate from specific deep space sources. Cosmic rays were originally discovered because of the ionization they produce in our atmosphere."

So what is all this about? New scientific results is what this is all about. The CERN Experiment Confirms Cosmic Rays Influence Cloud Seeds.

From WUWT "The worldwide network neutron monitors that have since been established gather data that have shown there is a correlation between periodic solar activity and the earthly neutron count."

"Ground-based neutron monitors detect variations in the approximately 500 Mev to 20 GeV portion of the primary cosmic ray spectrum."

"The primary cosmic ray particles interact with the atmosphere and generate secondaries, some of which will reach the surface of the Earth."

So what does the CERN study reveal? From WUWT "it appears that a non-visible light irradiance effect on Earth’s cloud seeds has been confirmed. The way it is posited to work is that the effect of cosmic rays (modulated by the sun’s magnetic variations which either allow more or deflect more cosmic rays) creates cloud condensation nuclei in the Earth’s atmosphere. With more condensation nuclei, more clouds form and vice-versa."

What does all this mean? It means the global warmists’ dam breaks.

Nigel Calder explains in CERN experiment confirms cosmic ray action "Long-anticipated results of the CLOUD experiment at CERN in Geneva appear in tomorrow’s issue of the journal Nature (25 August). The Director General of CERN stirred controversy last month, by saying that the CLOUD team’s report should be politically correct about climate change. The implication was that they should on no account endorse the Danish heresy – Henrik Svensmark’s hypothesis that most of the global warming of the 20th Century can be explained by the reduction in cosmic rays due to livelier solar activity, resulting in less low cloud cover and warmer surface temperatures."

"Jasper Kirkby of CERN and his 62 co-authors, from 17 institutes in Europe and the USA, announce big effects of pions from an accelerator, which simulate the cosmic rays and ionize the air in the experimental chamber. The pions strongly promote the formation of clusters of sulphuric acid and water molecules – aerosols of the kind that may grow into cloud condensation nuclei on which cloud droplets form. What’s more, there’s a very important clarification of the chemistry involved."

“It’s the Sun, stupid!” The story isn’t really about a bunch of naughty Danish physicists. They are just spokesmen for the most luminous agent of climate change. As the Sun was what the warmists really wanted to tame with their dam, they couldn’t do it. And coming to the Danes’ aid, by briefly blasting away many cosmic rays with great puffs of gas, the Sun enabled the team to trace in detail the consequent reduction in cloud seeding and liquid water in clouds.

By the way, that research also disposes of a morsel of doubt in the new CLOUD paper, about whether the small specks made by cosmic rays really grow sufficiently to seed cloud droplets.

As knowledge accumulated behind their dam and threatened to overtop it, the warmists had one last course to lay. Paradoxically it was CLOUD. Long delays with this experiment to explore the microchemical mechanism of the Svensmark effect became the chief excuse for deferring any re-evaluation of the Sun’s role in climate change. When the microchemical mechanism was revealed prematurely by the SKY experiment in Copenhagen and published in 2006, the warmists said, “No particle accelerator? That won’t do! Wait for CLOUD.”

When the experiment in Aarhus confirmed the mechanism using a particle accelerator they said, “Oh that’s just the Danes again! Wait for CLOUD."

Well they’ve waited and their dam has failed them."

CERN says 'Climate models will need to be substantially revised'. Well who is CERN anyway?

The CLOUD experiment has been designed to study the effect of cosmic rays on the formation of atmospheric aerosols - tiny liquid or solid particles suspended in the atmosphere - under controlled laboratory conditions. Atmospheric aerosols are thought to be responsible for a large fraction of the seeds that form cloud droplets. Understanding the process of aerosol formation is therefore important for understanding the climate.

The CLOUD results show that trace vapours assumed until now to account for aerosol formation in the lower atmosphere can explain only a tiny fraction of the observed atmospheric aerosol production. The results also show that ionisation from cosmic rays significantly enhances aerosol formation. Precise measurements such as these are important in achieving a quantitative understanding of cloud formation, and will contribute to a better assessment of the effects of clouds in climate models."

"Facts are hard to argue with," Governor Walker of Wisconsin declared in a Heritage interview earlier this month. In the three years before his election, the Democratic State legislature and Democratic governor presided over the loss of 150,000 jobs. In Walker's first six months in office, Wisconsin added a net of 39,000 jobs, including 14,000 in manufacturing. The remainder were in agriculture, tourism, biotech and medical technology.

In June, Walker earned boasting rights that half of the new jobs in the entire country -- a shocking and paltry 19,000 -- were created in his state. In the same month, Democrat Illinois next door lost 7,000 jobs. (For more on Illinois jobs, see this - ed.)

Not only did Wisconsin add private sector jobs, they trimmed government jobs by 3,000. Instead of leading to disaster, 12,500 private jobs were added, leading to the one month total of 9,500 net new jobs.

What changed for Wisconsin? Republican policies made the dramatic difference. In his first six months, Governor Walker and his Republican legislature passed tort reform and regulatory reform to create a legal system that fosters economic growth instead of suffocating it. They balanced the budget and cut taxes, including freezing property taxes. To encourage business expansion, they passed a manufacturing tax credit and capital gains tax credit.

The cuts were not at the expense of the health and senior services. The budget continues BadgerCare, Medical Assistance, and SeniorCare, and allocates an additional $1.2 billion into the state's Medicaid program. All new revenue in the next two years will go to the Department of Health Services.

The budget did cut $800 million in aid to local school districts. However, the Republicans freed school districts of onerous union requirements that expensive health insurance must be purchased through the union. School districts quickly turned to the competitive private insurance market and have saved as much as $700,000 a year. "
