Washington's crossing... again

In 2010, the battle to save the American Republic is a bit like right before George Washington famous crossing of the Delaware... British troops were gaining ground ... and all seemed lost.

To some right now: saving America may seem 'hopeless' or not important... after all, they have American Idol, Starbucks, Hollyweird celebrities clothing to worry about, McDonald's, video games to play and all sorts of nonsense. "What, me worry?" as creeping tyranny slowly surrounds.
Slowly and steadily though ... there has been an awakening... even as progressives thought they had gained ground...

Americans will "vote with their feet" ala Ronald Reagan as they HAVE in Virginia, New Jersey and Massachusetts and "vote them out" in 2010 (and 2012).

I think history will show 2009/2010 as the true beginning of a second revolution. We have the perfect documents, like the constitution to guide us. Patriots will prevail as history repeats.

Dr.Kate reports the Continental Congress 2009 is near ratification of the Articles of Freedom.
... and onwards the battles will wage.

Description:
Six months after the Declaration of Independence, the American Revolution was all but lost. A powerful British force had routed the Americans at New York, occupied three colonies, and advanced within sight of Philadelphia. George Washington lost ninety percent of his army and was driven across the Delaware River. Panic and despair spread through the states.

Yet, as David Hackett Fischer recounts in this riveting history, Washington--and many other Americans--refused to let the Revolution die. Even as the British and Germans spread their troops across New Jersey, the people of the colony began to rise against them. George Washington saw his opportunity and seized it. On Christmas night, as a howling nor'easter struck the Delaware Valley, he led his men across the river and attacked the exhausted Hessian garrison at Trenton, killing or capturing nearly a thousand men. A second battle of Trenton followed within days. The Americans held off a counterattack by Lord Cornwallis's best troops, then were almost trapped by the British force. Under cover of night, Washington's men stole behind the enemy and struck them again, defeating a brigade at Princeton. The British were badly shaken. In twelve weeks of winter fighting, their army suffered severe damage, their hold on New Jersey was broken, and their strategy was ruined.

Fischer's richly textured narrative reveals the crucial role of contingency in these events. We see how the campaign unfolded in a sequence of difficult choices by many actors, from generals to civilians, on both sides. While British and German forces remained rigid and hierarchical, Americans evolved an open and flexible system that was fundamental to their success. At the same time, they developed an American ethic of warfare that John Adams called "the policy of humanity," and showed that moral victories could have powerful material effects. The startling success of Washington and his compatriots not only saved the faltering American Revolution, but helped to give it new meaning, in a pivotal moment for American history.

From SonOfTheSouth:

At the close of November, 1776, the British occupied New Jersey, and only the Delaware River shut off Cornwallis from Philadelphia. On December 2, Washington, with a considerable force, crossed the river, securing every boat so that the British were unable to follow him. Determined to surprise the Hessians, under Colonel Rahl, at Trenton, Washington recrossed the river a few miles above Trenton on December 25, with 2,400 men and twenty pieces of artillery.

This famous painting captures the nobility, strength
and character of George Washington.

Emanuel Gottlieb Leutze, American, 1816-1868
George Washington Crossing the Delaware, 1851
There are few technical problems with accuracy in this painting, but the determination, anguish and monumental nature of the event depicted are clearly seen. Certainly, a small group of men, banded together to fight a common cause is a lasting impression from the image. One also gets the sense of the heroic nature assigned to General Washington from this painting.

The Durham Historical Society has a replica Durham boat that can be viewed by anyone in its pavilion located on the green next to the Durham Post Office on Durham Road in Durham, PA. The boat was used for a number of years in the annual December 25th Washington Crossing the Delaware event at Washington’s Crossing, PA.

Dear BHO, man up - from Rush

**Update: here is the audio of this letter:

Rush is on FIRE today! Read
January 28, 2010:

"I penned a message to Obama that I would like to deliver now. Because Mr. Obama, I think it's time we had a heart to heart talk. Let me be the father that you never had or never really knew, because I think you need some guidance. It's time to man up. It's time to grow up. That speech last night was an embarrassment. You couldn't focus, you lashed out in all directions, you refused to accept responsibility for your own actions, and you were angry.

And he was, folks! He was mad. Being president is a big job. It's a big responsibility. You wanted the position, Barack. You campaigned for it. You told the public to trust you with it, and they elected you -- and you're now president of the greatest country mankind has ever known, and yet you act like this was all coming to you, like you deserve it, that you're better than the people you are supposed to serve and that you have no tolerance for debate or dissent. That's not the way it works as president, Barack. We have a Constitution, we have checks and balances, we have separation of powers, we have states -- and most of all, we have the people. You don't get to impose your programs and policies on the nation and the people without our consent.

This is a representative republic, not a banana republic, and let me remind you: Karl Marx and Saul Alinsky are not our Founding Fathers. This is a nation built on individuality, built on liberty, free markets, and faith. Yet you, Barack, demand fidelity to a different belief system: A system that crushes individual initiative and free will. The president does not berate Supreme Court justices who are guests of the Congress and who have no ability to respond to your attacks. You've made such a mess of things, Barack, and it's time to stop deluding yourself. It's time to stop blaming others. You are delusional. You are delirious. It's time for you to assume the responsibilities of a president rather than pretending to be one.

You've driven the nation's debt over the edge. It is your responsibility to fix it now. Otherwise, our young people will have no future. You were wrong to grant terrorists constitutional rights. Even the libs in New York don't want the trial there now! You, Mr. President, are endangering the security of this nation. Now fix it! Reverse course, and end the terrorists -- all of them -- back to Guantanamo Bay, where they belong. You are wrong to nationalize one industry after another from automobiles to banks. You are destroying competition and jobs. You need to stop what you were doing before million of more families go broke from your misguided policies. It's not too late to stop this. I know you're not going to stop it because last night you said you don't quit, and I know what you mean.

You're gonna keep plugging for the same agenda, which is going to destroy this country even more -- which makes me think, Barack, that's your objective. You know, Barack, unlike most presidents you're dealing with a Congress that has super majorities in both houses, fellow Democrats. It amazes me that with all the talk about your ability to persuade and communicate, that you can't even hold your own party members together anymore. Is that Bush's fault, too? Is it is fault of the banks and the insurance companies and the lobbyists that you can't keep your own Democrat Party unified -- or is it a problem with your leadership, Barack, or lack of leadership? It's the latter, Mr. President. I'll tell you, you are not a leader. You are an agitator and an organizer, and a process guy, but you are not a leader. It is you who are doing something wrong.

The people in Virginia don't like it. The people in New Jersey don't like it. The people in Massachusetts don't like it. The people in Massachusetts and all over the country have the ability to inform themselves outside of your sycophant press corps, and they are doing so. Members of your own governing majority don't like what you are doing. I mean, this calls for some self-reflection and some circumspection. Has it occurred to you, Mr. President, even once that you're not as cool as you think you are? Has it occurred to you that you are screwing up? And if it has, are you happy about that? Has it occurred to you that you have a great deal to learn and that you need to take your own measure, or are you Mr. Perfect? Are you God-sent?

Are you The One that you've been waiting for? See, I have a little concern there may be a psychological issue at play here. I don't say this to demean you, Barack. I say it because I'm concerned. I mean, Tom Daschle was always "concerned" and I like the word. I'm concerned. You seem to have a whole lot of enemies, at least in your own mind. A partial list would include Fox News, insurance companies, banks, oil companies, the "special interests," the Supreme Court, Republicans, talk show hosts, executives, anyone or any business that earns over $250,000 a year, mortgage companies, credit card companies -- and the list goes on and on and on. You have the longest enemies list of anybody I've ever known.

These people are not your enemies, though, Barack. They are Americans. They are part of this country. They are part of what makes the nation work. You are not. You have nothing to do, and have had nothing to do, with this nation's greatness. You can't lay claim to greatness on any scale, not even rhetorical. But you have no direct relationship to the greatness of this country. You are damaging the possibility of further greatness. Nevertheless, like a bully, you continue to threaten all of these people. The Supreme Court, Big Oil, Big Pharmaceutical, Big Retail, talk show hosts, Fox News, the list goes on. You threaten anybody who does not agree with you. You try to intimidate them. You smear them. Your sycophantic media goes right along and carries your water. But this is not what presidents do.

You're supposed to lead not by threatening people but by encouraging them, by embracing them, by thanking them, by inspiring them. Most of all you don't seem to appreciate the magnificence of this nation! I know you don't. The way you've been educated about this country it's painfully obvious. You think this country is guilty, period. Guilty and unjust. You seem to think this country needs to be torn down so you can rebuild it. But you were elected to be president, not some kind of dictator. You must operate within the confines of the Constitution. You are not bigger than the law, and you are not bigger than the people. You were elected to serve the people, not dictate to them. Anyway, I'm sure this little lecture will not do you much good, particularly given the spectacle of your speech last night. You really are full of yourself. But I truly hope that this little talk does do you some good down the way, because something is going to have to change in you or we are doomed for at least the next three years."

AWESOME! ... WHEN THE WINDS OF REAL CHANGE (restoring the Republic) START BLOWING, I STAND WITH RUSH!

Say No to Soros' Velvet Revolution

An oligarchy runs America

Great article at BigJournalism today by Kylie-Ann Shiver about the evil incarnate G.Soros and his plans to "remake" America. He hired BHO after all and runs the puppet show. But I am getting ahead of myself, what do I mean?

What are the basic ingredients necessary to accomplish Soros’ stated goal of destroying American supremacy?

1. Plunder American wealth through redistributive policies on a national and international scale. Solidify the power of mega-corporations under increasing federal control, so that the economy can be planned and wealth can be distributed “more fairly” to all (corporatism).

2. Reduce America’s military might and shift our military’s purpose from national security to police actions in concert with international bodies, such as Interpol and U.N. peace-keeping forces. End G.W. Bush’s Global War on Terror and replace it with policies more palatable to the world community, i.e. close Gitmo and treat terrorists as common criminals, worthy of civilian trials with full rights of U.S. citizens.

Now, one would need to be living under a rock not to see the Soros “velvet revolution” at work in President Obama’s domestic and foreign policies. Though the power of Obama’s charisma has faded quickly, his policies continue to wreck not only our own economy, but also our standing in the world, among both allies and enemies alike.

The Audacity of Oops

Daily Beast columnist Christopher Buckley procured an early draft of President Obama’s upcoming State of the Union speech!

Some excerpts:

My fellow Americans,

Tonight I can report to you that the state of the union, on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being excellent, is a 9.8.

Now, you may ask—and I wouldn’t blame you for asking—how I came up with that number. You might be saying to yourself, “Wait a minute. I’ve got no job, no health insurance. My house isn’t worth half the amount of my mortgage, and I just got called up by the National Guard to do a fifth tour in Afghanistan. How the heck did he come up with 9.8?”

So it’s a good and valid question. And the answer is that 9.8 is pretty good, considering the mess my predecessor and the Republicans left me. Fair enough? I think so.

A year ago, I inspired the nation to have the audacity to hope that I would change the political culture in Washington. Now, it turns out I’m another hack politician.

I want to acknowledge some folks in this chamber here tonight. The cipher-faced, light-skinned fellow right behind me is Harry Reid, Senate Majority Leader, from the great state of Nevada, home of gambling, legal prostitution, and empty nuclear-waste facilities.

Over the last year, Harry has managed to do something I wouldn’t have dreamt possible: make me look like a total tool of the political establishment. How did he manage that? How did I manage that?

I can further report that Secretary Napolitano has come up with an ingenious plan to prevent a recurrence of the Christmas bombing attempt. From now on, all planes flying into the United States will carry not air marshals but Dutch artists. For we now know that when it comes to disabling well-born Nigerians attempting to detonate their underpants, Dutch artists are proven first-responders.

Meanwhile, we must, and will, continue to strip-search 82-year-old white, Protestant grandmothers and 2-year-olds, lest we annoy the tender sensibilities of Muslim countries that practice, among other time-honored religious rituals, genital mutilation of young women, live burial of homosexuals, and stoning and beheading of adulterous women. God forbid we should upset them. We’re Americans. We’re better than that.

Awesome... there is more, read the whole thing here.

The proposed spending freeze will be like...

Funny contest over at Michelle Malkin:

"Fill in the blank: Obama proposing spending freeze is like_"

Some suggestions:

  • OJ Simpson giving a seminar on the dangers of knives

  • Tiger Woods railing against promiscuity

  • Spender-in-chief Obama proposing a spending freeze is like a man purchasing a truck load of budget-busting luxury items for himself and then telling the family they’re going to have to cut back on day-to-day necessities.

  • Jeffery Dahmer going vegan

  • Hitler joining a synagogue

  • Obama and his liberal friends are now so concerned about the economy after they spent our tax dollars like a drunken sailor on their pet projects and to reward their liberal supporters. Why am I not moved by their new found concern?
The stimulation bill, where the money should have gone toward “shovel ready” jobs where it could have done some good, instead, went toward the libs pet social programs they couldn’t get passed during the normal appropriations process. Now that they have theirs, they are ready to freeze spending.

  • Saying you’re going on a diet after competing in a pie eating contest

  • Hugh Hefner preaching the virtues of celibacy

    HA HA HA...

well... you get the point... Conservatives can be damn funny... and Americans are all aware of the crap in Washingon. They are tired of being fed sh*t sandwiches all year and ain't buyin' it any more...

Hey Republicans, be the party of "No WAY!"

Obumbles and Democrats have stated current Republicans in Congress are the party of "No".

Republicans NEED to be the party of "No WAY!"... per a great article in AmericanThinker:

As the chosen standard bearer for the Republican Party, Governor McDonnell must state firmly that Republicans don't intend to compromise in a process which merely allows Democrats to continue along their destructive path, only now with bipartisan support.

He must state firmly that Republicans do not intend to assist the Democrats while they ruin the economy, bankrupt government, destroy our healthcare system, and continue pitting us one against the other in a divide-and-conquer strategy that is Balkanizing our nation.

If anything has been learned from the explosive growth of the Tea Party movement and similar organizations, it is that people everywhere, Republican, Democrat and Independent, are horrified at what Obama and the Congressional Democrats are doing. But the Democrats just forge on ahead, calling Republicans who try to stop them the "Party of No."

Governor McDonnell needs to clarify the GOP message, and it should be this:

We are not the Party of No. We are the Party of No Way!

No Way we'll let you ruin our economy!

No Way we'll let you compromise our national security!

No Way we'll let you destroy our healthcare!

No Way we'll let you bankrupt our government!

No Way we'll let you steal our country!

The Governor should acknowledge that Republicans lost their way for a while. Admit it. But now the scales have fallen from your eyes. This administration and Congress's attempt to steamroll their destructive, radical agenda across this land has shaken the GOP out of its lethargy. The vision is crystal clear:

• Republicans are the Party of limited government and free markets.
• Republicans are the Party of liberty.
• Republicans are the Party of principle.
• Republicans are the Party of ALL the People.
• And this is because Republicans are the Party of the United States Constitution.

Star Parker: After Massachusetts, what's next?

Spot on assessment from WND.com - Friday, January 22, 2010, by Star Parker

After Massachusetts, what's next?

Republicans must offer now a concrete alternative vision

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Have you ever watched as a dear friend becomes smitten with someone you know is not for them?

You listen as they swear how Mr. or Ms. Right has finally arrived, wondering how they cannot see the obvious. Your only option is to watch and wait for the inevitable, knowing that when it's over you'll be there to help pick up the pieces.

So, yes, independent voters, who were key to electing Barack Obama, are now falling out of love with him. But, I ask, what were you folks thinking a year ago?

You didn't realize that the post-racial candidate with the magic wand was a classic, boilerplate liberal? You were so sick of Republicans that you didn't bother to think about it? But you do know about these rebound relationships, don't you?

It's not like we haven't had our experience with liberalism. That experience made the liberal label so politically deadly that liberals renamed themselves "progressives."

So, what can we expect now in the wake of the miracle in Massachusetts?

Democrats are between a rock and hard place because Barack Obama is not going to change. This is a date you know after five minutes is not going to work, and you have the whole evening ahead of you. In this case, it's three more years. (<= OK, in this point I disagree with Ms. Parker. I believe Apuzzo's, Taitz or someone's eligibility case WILL be heard and it will be found in discovery phase that BHO is NOT eligible to BE the POTUS and he will be REMOVED before 3 years is up)

Pundits are talking about the Bill Clinton model. When Bill Clinton was repudiated by voters, he morphed into Bill Clinton II.

But Bill Clinton is a not an ideologue. Bill is a pragmatic man. He'll do whatever it takes to keep the party going.

It's hard to fathom Obama doing the equivalent of signing welfare reform, promoting a free trade treaty like NAFTA, or cutting the capital-gains tax.

Obama is a liberal ideologue. To change would require him to become a different man. Not impossible, but highly unlikely.

Democrats, under this president's leadership, will continue to push a left-wing, liberal program. This means that the door will be open for Republicans to make hay, as independent voters nationwide wake up and recall why the "liberal" label became so deadly.

Over the last 10 days, the probability of Democrats retaining control of the House in 2010 dropped from 85 percent to 59 percent, as reflected in contracts traded on Intrade.com.

Economic recovery will continue at tortoise-like speed as result of the prevailing culture of high taxes, expanding government spending and deficits, and welfare-state bailouts that encourage non-productive behavior.

It will be tempting for many Republicans to take the easy way and campaign to exploit prevailing unhappiness. This would be irresponsible. The problems facing the nation are too great.

Republicans must offer now a concrete alternative vision, Contract with America-style.

Return to a low-tax, limited-government environment. Address escalating health-care costs with market, enterprise-driven reforms. We are drowning in the red ink of entitlements. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid must be transformed into models of ownership and choice. Parents must be given freedom to choose where to send their children to school.

A bold Republican agenda would aim to unite our deeply divided nation by reaching into black and Latino communities to show that ownership and personal responsibility – not the welfare state – is the key to the American dream.

And let's not shy away from the truth that this is a nation under God.

Some say that a free society has no religious absolutes. Stephen Douglas argued this when, in his debates with Lincoln, he claimed it was the American way for each state to be free to decide if it would permit slavery.

Current polling shows that less than one in three Americans feel the country is on the right track. It's time to get back on the path of freedom.

Mort Zuckerman: "Obama's Done Everything Wrong"

A Billionaire Democrat is mad at BHO and says he's done everything wrong.... Well, the millions of protesting independent, T.E.A. party people or conservatives could of told you this, Mr. Z.

However, perhaps there is new hope previous supporters like Mr. Z are no longer drinking the hope'n' change koolaid.

So regardless of (I'm sure) previous financial support to BHO from Mr. Z, this is an interesting clip nonetheless. (Hat tip The Anchoress)

Washington's "Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians" for 2009

Judicial Watch Announces List of Washington's "Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians" for 2009

1. Senator Christopher Dodd (D-CT)
2. Senator John Ensign (R-NV)
3. Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA)
4. Secretary of Treasury Timothy Geithner
5. Attorney General Eric Holder
6. Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-IL)/ Senator Roland Burris (D-IL)
7. Putative President Barack Obama
8. Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)
9. Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) and the rest of the PMA Seven
10. Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY)

Americans need jobs, so let's put these a&&holes...err...people in the unemployment queue.

Liberalism is dead

Another good article from American Thinker, some snippets:

"The l-word still has a positive flavor from the old days, when it meant tolerance, open-mindedness, and the active defense of freedom. That's how JFK used it. Barack Obama is not a liberal; he is a third-world Socialist of the really angry kind. Obama has been surrounded by enraged Leftists from childhood on, including those crucial four years of living in Indonesia right after the whole Communist Party was wiped out by the Indonesian military under General Sukarno. That's Obama's real experience of the world outside of Hawaii. Ever since then, Obama has chosen to be surrounded by anti-Western, anti-liberal Leftists. Jeremiah Wright is perfectly typical of Obama's crowd. Obama is mentally the most fixated president we've had for a century, because he has never bothered to look outside of his Hard Leftist circle. He doesn't know any normal people...sort of like the New York Times Editorial Board or the Faculty of Harvard."

"The name "liberalism" should be put in a museum of out-of-date political labels, like the Whigs and the Wobblies. If there is ever a real democratic rebellion in the Democrat Party, then maybe real liberalism will come back. But until such time, we can only wish that the l-word will Rest in Peace. The Left has killed it. "

America celebrates Martin Luther King day Jan 18th

In his famous "I have a dream" speech, Dr. Martin Luther King said:

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

Is that still a dream?

Does America judge people, overall, by the content of their character or by the color of their skin?

A mulatto colored man was selected as POTUS in Nov 2008. Does he have good character?
I believe after a year, Americans are FULLY aware he lacks the character for the job of POTUS which he was installed. His records are STILL closed. Paid, leftist media did not vet BHO and the general public were not given full, true information about his character.
Is the conclusion, people vote for him simply because of the color of his skin?

I agree with Dr. King, character is waaaaaaaay more important.

But, back to celebrating Dr. King's legacy. I do that by re-posting a good article from Human Events - 2006

by Frances Rice 08/16/2006

It should come as no surprise that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican. In that era, almost all black Americans were Republicans. Why? From its founding in 1854 as the anti-slavery party until today, the Republican Party has championed freedom and civil rights for blacks. And as one pundit so succinctly stated, the Democrat Party is as it always has been, the party of the four S's: slavery, secession, segregation and now socialism.

It was the Democrats who fought to keep blacks in slavery and passed the discriminatory Black Codes and Jim Crow laws. The Democrats started the Ku Klux Klan to lynch and terrorize blacks. The Democrats fought to prevent the passage of every civil rights law beginning with the civil rights laws of the 1860s, and continuing with the civil rights laws of the 1950s and 1960s.
During the civil rights era of the 1960s, Dr. King was fighting the Democrats who stood in the school house doors, turned skin-burning fire hoses on blacks and let loose vicious dogs. It was Republican President Dwight Eisenhower who pushed to pass the Civil Rights Act of 1957 and sent troops to Arkansas to desegregate schools. President Eisenhower also appointed Chief Justice Earl Warren to the U.S. Supreme Court, which resulted in the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education decision ending school segregation. Much is made of Democrat President Harry Truman's issuing an Executive Order in 1948 to desegregate the military. Not mentioned is the fact that it was Eisenhower who actually took action to effectively end segregation in the military.

Democrat President John F. Kennedy is lauded as a proponent of civil rights. However, Kennedy voted against the 1957 Civil Rights Act while he was a senator, as did Democrat Sen. Al Gore Sr. And after he became President, Kennedy was opposed to the 1963 March on Washington by Dr. King that was organized by A. Phillip Randolph, who was a black Republican. President Kennedy, through his brother Atty. Gen. Robert Kennedy, had Dr. King wiretapped and investigated by the FBI on suspicion of being a Communist in order to undermine Dr. King.

In March of 1968, while referring to Dr. King's leaving Memphis, Tenn., after riots broke out where a teenager was killed, Democrat Sen. Robert Byrd (W.Va.), a former member of the Ku Klux Klan, called Dr. King a "trouble-maker" who starts trouble, but runs like a coward after trouble is ignited. A few weeks later, Dr. King returned to Memphis and was assassinated on April 4, 1968.

Given the circumstances of that era, it is understandable why Dr. King was a Republican. It was the Republicans who fought to free blacks from slavery and amended the Constitution to grant blacks freedom (13th Amendment), citizenship (14th Amendment) and the right to vote (15th Amendment). Republicans passed the civil rights laws of the 1860s, including the Civil Rights Act of 1866 and the Reconstruction Act of 1867 that was designed to establish a new government system in the Democrat-controlled South, one that was fair to blacks. Republicans also started the NAACP and affirmative action with Republican President Richard Nixon's 1969 Philadelphia Plan (crafted by black Republican Art Fletcher) that set the nation's fist goals and timetables. Although affirmative action now has been turned by the Democrats into an unfair quota system, affirmative action was begun by Nixon to counter the harm caused to blacks when Democrat President Woodrow Wilson in 1912 kicked all of the blacks out of federal government jobs.
Few black Americans know that it was Republicans who founded the Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Unknown also is the fact that Republican Sen. Everett Dirksen from Illinois was key to the passage of civil rights legislation in 1957, 1960, 1964 and 1965. Not mentioned in recent media stories about extension of the 1965 Voting Rights Act is the fact that Dirksen wrote the language for the bill. Dirksen also crafted the language for the Civil Rights Act of 1968 which prohibited discrimination in housing. President Lyndon Johnson could not have achieved passage of civil rights legislation without the support of Republicans.

Critics of Republican Sen. Barry Goldwater, who ran for President against Johnson in 1964, ignore the fact that Goldwater wanted to force the Democrats in the South to stop passing discriminatory laws and thus end the need to continuously enact federal civil rights legislation.
Those who wrongly criticize Goldwater also ignore the fact that Johnson, in his 4,500 State of the Union Address delivered on Jan. 4, 1965, mentioned scores of topics for federal action, but only 35 words were devoted to civil rights. He did not mention one word about voting rights. Then in 1967, showing his anger with Dr. King's protest against the Vietnam War, Johnson referred to Dr. King as "that Nigger preacher."

Contrary to the false assertions by Democrats, the racist "Dixiecrats" did not all migrate to the Republican Party. "Dixiecrats" declared that they would rather vote for a "yellow dog" than vote for a Republican because the Republican Party was know as the party for blacks. Today, some of those "Dixiecrats" continue their political careers as Democrats, including Robert Byrd, who is well known for having been a "Keagle" in the Ku Klux Klan.

Another former "Dixiecrat" is former Democrat Sen. Ernest Hollings, who put up the Confederate flag over the state Capitol when he was the governor of South Carolina. There was no public outcry when Democrat Sen. Christopher Dodd praised Byrd as someone who would have been "a great senator for any moment," including the Civil War. Yet Democrats denounced then-Senate GOP leader Trent Lott for his remarks about Sen. Strom Thurmond (R.-S.C.). Thurmond was never in the Ku Klux Klan and defended blacks against lynching and the discriminatory poll taxes imposed on blacks by Democrats. If Byrd and Thurmond were alive during the Civil War, and Byrd had his way, Thurmond would have been lynched.

The 30-year odyssey of the South switching to the Republican Party began in the 1970s with President Richard Nixon's "Southern Strategy," which was an effort on the part of Nixon to get Christians in the South to stop voting for Democrats who did not share their values and were still discriminating against their fellow Christians who happened to be black. Georgia did not switch until 2002, and some Southern states, including Louisiana, are still controlled by Democrats.
Today, Democrats, in pursuit of their socialist agenda, are fighting to keep blacks poor, angry and voting for Democrats. Examples of how egregiously Democrats act to keep blacks in poverty are numerous.

After wrongly convincing black Americans that a minimum wage increase was a good thing, the Democrats on August 3 kept their promise and killed the minimum wage bill passed by House Republicans on July 29. The blockage of the minimum wage bill was the second time in as many years that Democrats stuck a legislative finger in the eye of black Americans. Senate Democrats on April 1, 2004, blocked passage of a bill to renew the 1996 welfare reform law that was pushed by Republicans and vetoed twice by President Clinton before he finally signed it. Since the welfare reform law expired in September 2002, Congress had passed six extensions, and the latest expired on June 30, 2004. Opposed by the Democrats are school choice opportunity scholarships that would help black children get out of failing schools and Social Security reform, even though blacks on average lose $10,000 in the current system because of a shorter life expectancy than whites (72.2 years for blacks vs. 77.5 years for whites).

Democrats have been running our inner-cities for the past 30 to 40 years, and blacks are still complaining about the same problems. More than $7 trillion dollars have been spent on poverty programs since Lyndon Johnson's War on Poverty with little, if any, impact on poverty. Diabolically, every election cycle, Democrats blame Republicans for the deplorable conditions in the inner-cities, then incite blacks to cast a protest vote against Republicans.

In order to break the Democrats' stranglehold on the black vote and free black Americans from the Democrat Party's economic plantation, we must shed the light of truth on the Democrats. We must demonstrate that the Democrat Party policies of socialism and dependency on government handouts offer the pathway to poverty, while Republican Party principles of hard work, personal responsibility, getting a good education and ownership of homes and small businesses offer the pathway to prosperity.

UN has been in Haiti 6 years doing what?

From Judi McLeod at Canada Free Press:

Time to hold UN accountable for world’s poor

The living horror of Haiti could someday be turned around as a showcase for real hope and change for poverty stricken nations everywhere.

It’s time to recognize that the UN arranged chinwags attended by presidents and world leaders in settings like Copenhagen two weeks before Christmas do ZERO for poor people whose only crime was being born in poverty-stricken countries.

Since 2004, there has been a 9,000 strong UN “Peacekeeping Force” on the ground in Haiti. Not only have they been unable to have implemented the building codes that left Haiti as an earthquake waiting to happen, they have failed in six long years to wrest power from the few elite who hold it and divert needed funds to the local level.

When some of the 193 UN member state leaders turned up for this year’s poverty summit, the only thing they proved was that sitting around flicking the ashes off their cigars with diamonded pinky fingers between meetings does diddly squat for the world’s poor.

News reports indicate that in Haiti, the UN lost the most personnel in its history; that like everyone else the UN was trying to dig out the 36 still missing from the rubble of the earthquake and that’s why there wasn’t much of a UN presence to help out in the earthquake aftermath.

Yet Hillary Clinton somehow got through today.

Haitians getting by in huts and hovels had none either and for six long years no help that could be counted from the UN in Port au Prince.

If there is anything that Haiti proves it’s that the UN is an abysmal failure. While they sit around in the comfortable offices in their vast empire worldwide, the sound of incessant talking can be heard.

In Haiti, the screams for help of people still buried under rubble four days after the Earthquake can be heard everywhere other than inside the UN.

American city anthem from 1988

The Chicago Board of Trade building

Are there songs from your past...

when you hear them now - you are RIGHT back

to a past memory ... vivid as ever?
* * *

Fans of 80's movies should remember "Working Girl".
Whenever I hear the theme song,
it reminds me of working in the Chicago loop...

I loved working down there - it was awesome...

See pix from my recent trip home to Chicago September 2009 here.

* * *
Written for the 1988 movie "Working Girl", Carly Simon "wanted to write something that would be a hymn to New York and it's aspiring throngs. A jungle hymn. I looked to Walt Whitman for inspiration and my husband, Jim, had some great poetic lines that he generously shared with me."

"Let The River Run" went on to win an Oscar, a Golden Globe and a Grammy.

We're coming to the edge,
running on the water,
coming through the fog,
your sons and daughters.

Let the river run,
let all the dreamers
wake the nation.
Come, the New Jerusalem.

Silver cities rise,
the morning lights
the streets that meet them,
and sirens call them on
with a song.

It's asking for the taking.
Trembling, shaking.
Oh, my heart is aching.

We're coming to the edge,
running on the water,
coming through the fog,
your sons and daughters.

We the great and small
stand on a star
and blaze a trail of desire
through the dark'ning dawn.

It's asking for the taking.
Come run with me now,
the sky is the color of blue
you've never even seen
in the eyes of your lover.

Oh, my heart is aching.
We're coming to the edge,
running on the water,
coming through the fog,
your sons and daughters.

[guitar]

It's asking for the taking.
Trembling, shaking.
Oh, my heart is aching.
We're coming to the edge,
running on the water,
coming through the fog,
your sons and daughters.

Let the river run,
let all the dreamers
wake the nation.
Come, the New Jerusalem.

AMERICA, YOU ARE EXCEPTIONAL... & don't you forget it...

Taking the Country Back, Race by Race
Posted by Laura Ingraham

We cannot wait for the "powers that be" in Washington to reset our nation in the right direction. Taking cues from the RNC or career politicians is a loser strategy. We the people are ready to deliver real "change." This begins now. In primary fights, in governor's races, in Senate and House races, we are supporting those candidates who are committed to the basic principles of freedom and economic prosperity that will sustain future generations. Please consider doing what you can to help the following candidates:

Jan 19th: Massachusetts Senate special election: Scott Brown

Feb. 2nd: Illinois Senate Republican primary: Patrick Hughes

March 2nd: Texas Senate Republican primary: Michael Williams

Jun. 8th: VA-05 Republican primary: Lawrence Verga

Coakley's evil past

...Martha, is that you?

Whoopsie daisy, is it any wonder evil Martha Coakley went on vacation for a few weeks instead of campaigning?

All sorts of stories from evil Martha Coakley's past are coming back to haunt her ala "chickens coming home to roost". Hopefully Massachusetts is paying attention in their special election Tuesday 19-Jan-2010.

pssssssst HEY MARTHA: It's the people's seat

Why do I call her evil? She is a typical evil progressive that is slowly killing America. Here are some specific examples:

1) She supports the attacker instead of the victim. From AmericasRight.com:

On Sunday, June 1, 2008, Beatrice and his four-year-old son were shopping at Market Basket, a supermarket in Raynham, Massachusetts.
According to the Taunton Daily Gazette, while Beatrice’s son was in the bathroom stall, standing on a bucket so he’d be tall enough to use the toilet, 71-year-old Valerio Rodriguez–an illegal immigrant from Guatemala working in the grocery store–reached under the shared wall from an adjoining stall and touched the boy “high on the leg.”

Beatrice felt as though Rodriguez, who later told police through an interpreter that he was “just fooling around,” posed a threat to his son, so he broke down the door and punched him.

Martha's statement “We can’t have people taking the law into their own hands. The father should have waited for police.”

Valerio Rodriguez was an illegal immigrant and had no legal right whatsoever to be in the United States of America–nonetheless Raynham, Massachusetts–to begin with. Forget about that for a second and concentrate on the fact that Martha Coakley, future senator from the great state of Massachusetts if the Democrats have their way, felt as though Jason Beatrice, whose son was being molested in a supermarket bathroom by the aforementioned illegal immigrant who had no legal right whatsoever to be in the country to begin with, was the one at fault in that case. According to Martha, Beatrice should have left his son in the bathroom with Valerio Rodriguez, called the police, and waited for them to arrive and intervene.

2) From AnnCoulter.com, she is: a woman who kept a clearly innocent man in prison in order to advance her political career.

3) From BigJournalism.com: October 2005 - The curling-iron toddler rape case. Coakley brings no charges, then lets the rapist out on no bail.

4) Installment #2 from BigJournalism.com: The “Pedophile Priest” Case, 1995-2002: Coakley cut secret deal in 1995 that allowed Father Geoghan to molest again.

***UPDATE:

5) MORE EVIL DETAILS ON MORE CASES from AmericanThinker.com

Her version of 'liberalism' is what makes this behavior "evil".

As per Michael Savage's book "Liberalism is a Mental Disorder" or Ann Coulter's book "Godless: The Church of Liberalism", I see Martha in the "liberals are evil, wrong and nuts" camp.

From this 2006 article, by a Christian pastor, the evil camp is where:

"Liberals have adopted some of the same tactics that communists have used for years. They don't have a pure philosophy of law. Right and wrong are not the focus of concern. It is only what advances their cause that counts. This is why when the popular votes goes against them on an issue they often circumvent the will of the people and get a liberal judge to rule in their favor."

"Liberals disagree with God's use of the death penalty. They routinely support murderers and ignore their victims. Regardless of the crime or the number of dead bodies, liberals side with the criminal."

"Liberals support evil people. Jimmy Carter went to Havana to dine with Fidel Castro. Rush Limbaugh said some years ago that there wasn't a dictator that Jimmy Carter didn't like. Hillary Clinton commended Saddam Hussein on his treatment of women while condemning the U.S. for the Iraq war. Bill Clinton helped restore Haiti dictator Jean-Bertrand Aristide to power. Those who wield brutal power apparently fascinate Liberals."

Part II of "liberals are evil, wrong and nuts" is interesting too.

Stay tuned to BigJournalism.com as they roll out MORE of Martha's evil past.

Sooo... wake up, Massachusetts & don't vote for evil...

* * *
Any one of these things, in and of themselves does not really matter. But when you add them up one by one you get a phenomenal score that points to the fact that our Obama is determined to make America over into a Marxist/Socialist society. All of the items in the preceding paragraphs have been put into place. All can be documented very easily. Before you disavow this do an internet search. The last paragraph alone is not yet cast in stone. You and I will write that paragraph.

Will it read as above or will it be a more happy ending for most of America? Personally, I like happy endings.

If you are an Obama supporter please do not be angry with me because I think your president is a socialist but there are too many facts supporting this.
If you seek the truth you will be richer for it.
Don’t just belittle the opposition.
Search for the truth. I did.
* * *
Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Constitutionalist, Libertarians and what have you, we all need to pull together. We all must pull together or watch the demise of a society that we all love and cherish.

If you are a religious person, pray for our nation.

Never before in the history of America have we been confronted with problems so huge that the very existence of our country is in jeopardy.

Don’t rely on most television news and what you read in the newspapers for the truth. Search the Internet.
Yes, there is a lot of bad information, lies and distortions there too but you are smart enough to spot the fallacies.
Newspapers are a dying breed. They are currently seeking a bailout from the government. Do you really think they are about to print the truth?

Obama praises all the television news networks except Fox who he has waged war against. There must be a reason… He does not call them down on any specifics, just a general battle against them. If they lie, he should call them out on it but he doesn’t.
Please find the truth. It will set you free.

Our biggest enemy is not China , Russia , Iran. No, our biggest enemy is a contingent of politicians in Washington DC.

NON PC humor alert - People of Walmart

*Warning: extremely politically INCORRECT posting today*

Just Wow... check out crazy funny site "People of Walmart". It is crazy... errr... well, the photos of crazy people seem to make it appear crazy... I cannot believe how some people actually dress themselves and think "ok, I'm looking presentable...tra la..." then LEAVE their homes (trailers?) and HEAD off to go shopping!

Un-friggin' believable...

Yep, I think I'll put on my sexy orange wig, 1970's glasses, pink lip gloss ... or my too-tight shirt so everyone gets to share in my wonderful flabbiness ... or ... heck... let's just not even wear any pants at all today...

Is this a woman? not quite sure

umm, let's hope she bought a hair brush?

Regrettably, yes, OK some of the photographed people do look mentally ill.

But heck, they got themselves to the store - that's the spirit, eh?

WTF?

Presuming this is a woman, does buying kid's stuff means she spawned offspring? wow... all the more reason there should be an official, high cost "Parent License" requiring people to:

a) register a request to have children

b) pass medical checks for mental illness

c) meet minimal financial requirements

d) do not have any criminal convictions

e) pass a strict parenting course

f) possibly include a (subjective of course) quiz checking if person is a stupid idiot goofball

g) extra credit: a pamphlet including suggestions on what CLOTHES are to wear when leaving the house...

god damn, girl, you look like a friggin' idiot...

some people should not breed... sorry I told you this was non PC

*goodness gracious me*
my eyeballs hurt from some of these pictures

not right.... no... not right

but funny nontheless?
